Have any of you read Mighty Avengers lately?

That comic doesn't give a shit about diversity.

4 black guys, a black lady, a Latina and Peter Parker.

Amen. It's a guy who was one of Peter's worst adversaries and is now wearing Peter's hide like an overcoat.

As to Mighty Avengers, that roster - Octavius aside - is a powerhouse roster. Physically, intellectually, in every sense. But we have another thread in which to have that discussion.

Back to Agents of SHIELD: If the new cast member news means that Akela is back, and for the long haul...I'll be pleased. Very much so. She struck me as someone I want to learn more about.

She would be interesting, but I suspect she would have been mentioned by name (likewise for Mike Peterson). Plus, the other character is the one with "ties to Coulson."

I kind of wonder how a combat/weapons specialist distinguishes that character from Ward and May, though.

Am I wrong to think Coulson is the hottest guy on the show?

He’s got a “I could wake up looking at that face every day for the rest of my life” kinda face.

Sit down and watch a dvd boxset of the Old Adventures of New Christine sometimes.

    Definitely husband material.

No, this show is so vanilla bland that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers looks like high drama.

Not everything "common denominator" boils down to your hate of "grim and gritty".

Well.. as a guy i don't really think about him like that (i presume women would find Agent McSquarejaw more attractive) but he is by far the coolest person on the show.

Anyone who faces down powerful alien beings for a living and is threatening to taze one of the most wealthiest person in the world (who has built himself a high tech armor full of weapons) for shits and giggles and treats it all as just another day on the job automatically takes top spot on any list.

This is why the Son of Coul is the real breakout star of the Marvel movie franchise.

Interesting, glad to see they're working on trying to make the show more interesting. I suppose these changes (and whatever follows in the rest of the season) may not necessarily be in response to ratings or viewer comments though, as they may have been written or at least planned out before the show even aired. Simply as an attempt to make/keep the show interesting/better.

Yeah, were I into men, he'd definitely be the one on the show that I'd go for.

No, it doesn't, but this show is far from bland. It's top-notch high adventure.

I don't know. I really want to love this show, but so far I only like it. There's just something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. The show is definitely on the vanilla side.

We aren't too far apart but I'd say the show has sprinkled in a few chocolate chips, pistachios and other goodies for my taste that it's not just vanilla.

It's gotten much better as the story has unfolded, which is how a Team Whedon scripted show usually goes. The viewer is rewarded for staying with it.

The only thing I'll say is I wouldn't mind a few more references to the comics. We have, I guess, three main ones - Graviton, Overkill, and Victoria Hand. Of those, Graviton seemed to be the most important to the plot (and was honestly the best thing about that episode). Then again, The Hub had two references, so maybe they're increasing in frequency.

The Hub itself was a comics reference. It was used as a backdrop in Avengers just before the Infinity stuff started hitting the fans.

Before it started, I was hoping there would be a lot of comics references and appearances by familiar characters, but now it doesn't seem to matter much to me. I don't feel any real connection to Marvel, I just like it for what it is. Sort of like Sleepy Hollow.
