The casting is really interesting, they may be onto something here. Still haven't gotten a sense of what time period it's in, tho.

Could be fun. Really wish they'd made an extra effort to go for a period setting in the 50s. Would that have been so hard on the props and costume department? They also moved the Bates Hotel from the Central Valley of California to the coast, but that's not so jarring a move. Those little foggy towns with their moldy old houses always freak me out a little.
This has a shot at being something awesome. Vera Farmiga is a great actress so if they give her good material we'll be set.
I'll give it a shot even though I wanted it to be set in the 50s. Those posting after the article raise a good point, though. Will this be seen as too similar to Adam Lanza and the twisted relationship he must have had with his "prepper" mother or too soon? Will it damage the series' chances?
