It's awesome, yes... but kind of disappointing that it seems incapable of turning manually. What I'd like to see is a mod for better boat controls. I can't tell you how many times I've crashed my boat because the controls didn't turn it around in time.
Yeah, controlling a boat is laggy. You don't get the immediate feedback that you need. And making half doors isn't possible anymore, is it? I was hoping I could make a half door to make it the size of a fence.
Interestignly enough, theres a mod clled 'Better than Wolves' that has one. Along with a ton of other stuff.
As impressive as that demonstration is, I think it also sheds light on just how painfully slow the redstone mechanics are on a large scale. That pong game also seemed to have some bugs, but still. That's pretty cool!
New mob incoming: Image Notch posted and an enhanced version of the image. Two of them are holding blocks which has led to speculation that these mobs will be able to steal blocks, potentially damaging your walls.
I liked the nickname of "Slenderman" I saw on Notch's G+ post about it. And those fuckers better not steal blocks or I'll be shutting them off!
According to a comment Notch made on reddit, he is officially calling them Endermen because of all the slender man comments.
Maybe they don't do that anymore. Maybe Notch came to his senses and realized he was creating a griefer mob. We already have creepers for that!
Just what I was thinking. Don't see what all the fuss is about them taking random blocks. As long as they're not travelling in packs of a dozen or more and swarming your builds, they're nothing like Creepers.
I've been working under the assumption that there would come an update where mobs would be able to destroy blocks since I bought the game as that was one of the central ideas behind Notch's zombie siege mode. So the prospect of endermen breaking down my walls doesn't bother me so much so long as it's not that common. As for their new teleporting ability, I don't like the sound of it. I spend many nights in the game on top of my tower looking out over my domain, but if an enderman spawns in front of me while I'm up there I'm going to have to stare at him all night otherwise he'll magically teleport behind me, 30m in the air? The only way I can see that gimmick working is if they only spawn in caves.
^^ I think that just like other mobs, you'll be able to stab them with a sword. And hopefully they'll die just as pitifully as other melee-based mobs, beating their brains out against your sword.
I say bring it on! My main fortress is surrounded by a wall with lava channels carved down both the inner and outer faces (for spider proofing.) The lanky gits are free to run headlong into fiery death any time they like.
