Star Trek 3 filming June 1st in Vancouver

Tron 3 will be filming on Oct. 5.
Star Trek 3 is scheduled to begin June 1 and run into the end of September or beginning of october.
Everything seems to have fallen into place.

 

Seems like a tight production schedule considering that everything I've read says they don't yet have a solid script (or maybe they now do). I'd rather they miss an anniversary date than face-plant with a half-baked idea and destroy the momentum provided by the last two movies.

 

The people insisting that there's no script are the same people who were promising the announcement of a new True Trek™ TV series on January 30.

 

Speaking of which, now that we're in the middle of March almost, do we have a new date for this supposed announcement or have they simply stopped bandying that rumor around?

 

I have a hunch that their margin of error is zip if they're pushing for a 2016 release date, so they're ignoring the rumor circuit for fear of setting off panic alarms. I also suspect that since Abrams is all-in on Star Wars, he's devoting minimal time to Trek at this time. With Orci being a first-time director, it's interesting to see that he is doing so on such a tight schedule.

Can we imagine what a Star Trek movie written by Simon Pegg would be like? Because his other films have been a bit 'other'. If he is writing this, I hope he can pull it off as Star Trek.

I think Orci stepped down due to howls of protest from the fans.

 

Trust me, those "howls" aren't even on anyone's radar. People with Orci's position and clout make decisions based on actual things.
