What should I read before Destiny?

Hello, I just have a quick question for you guys. I did a little looking before posting this so I hope it has not already been answered.

I just finished TNG "Greater than the Sum." (very good) and I have the first two "Destiny" books on my shelf. I have not read all the older Star Trek books, but I have read many of the newer books. With TNG I have read most of the post-Nemesis stuff. With the DS9 Relaunch I have read up to Unity.

Are there any books I should be sure to read before Destiny? I was thinking maybe I should read Worlds of Deep Space Nine first. I am willing to skip to Destiny if there are not any major parts of the other books that will be ruined or things I need to learn in them. Those are pretty much my only concernes with reading order.

Thanks for the help. Have a nice weekend everyone. -Brent

Nothing in the DS9 books will be spoiled by Destiny, aside from the fact that Ezri and a few other minor characters are still alive four years later. A couple of plot developments from the Titan novels will be slightly spoiled if you read Destiny first, but you won't be lost if you don't read them beforehand. GTTS is the most (and only) direct lead-in to Destiny, so if you've read that, then you're basically set.

If you've read most of the post Nemesis stuff then you should be pretty up to date. There is no need to read any of the DS9 relaunch before you read Destiny because Ezri is the only major character from ds9 that appears in the Trilogy. You should read them anyway though, just cause they're good :)

    Thanks CLB. I loved GTTS.

I have read the first three Titan books. I think I am going to go straight for Destiny because it just looks so good.

Thanks destro. I will definitely read the Ds9 stuff that comes after Unity soon. I think I am going to have to start Destiny next though because it just looks so good.

Looks like we finally have a replacement for "What should I read before Articles of the Federation?"

    :D

    (Enjoy the books, BrentMc)

The funniest part is that it would be good to read AotF before Destiny. :p

Actually, there is a line in one of the books that spoils a surprise if you haven't read all of the DS9 Relaunch books up to Warpath (another David Mack book btw). However, I wouldn't say it spoils things too much as it's just a reference to an incident, and is pretty vague as to Ezri's involvement in it.

Actually, I'm slightly unclear as the order of the TNG books leading up to Destiny. Anyone mind hitting the high points from Death In Winter onwards?

Oh, so Q & A is an actual title? I always just figured it was an acronym I couldn't figure out....

Unless you are hellbent on reading all of them, you could probably do yourself a favor and just read Q&A, Greater Than the Sum and the Destiny Trilogy.

Resistance is mediocre and Before Dishonor is pretty wretched. You don't have to worry about being lost, the other books do a pretty good job of filling you in on what happened. Just a suggestion.

^ That's basically what I did, and I didn't find myself getting confused at all.

Nothing's necessary, as you can dive right in and Dave fills in what you need, buuuuuuuuuut.....

For the Enterprise-E (and, in some cases, the recent Borg nonsense):
Death in Winter by Michael Jan Friedman
    Resistance by J.M. Dillard
    Q & A by Keith R.A. DeCandido
    Before Dishonor by Peter David
Greater than the Sum by Christopher L. Bennett

    For the Titan:
Taking Wing by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
The Red King by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin
Orion's Hounds by Christopher L. Bennett
Sword of Damocles by Geoffrey Thorne

For President Bacco and the Federation government:
Articles of the Federation by Keith R.A. DeCandido

    For Columbia:
Kobayashi Maru by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin

Again, these aren't necessary by any means.

I've been neglecting my local Barnes & Noble recently. I don't know these things. :(

Me too, although I did try to read Before Dishonor twice, before saying to hell with it.

Realistically, thats understandable, given a species with a name thats one letter, and the bazillion acronyms flying around this place... I'm sure a lot of people thought it was an acronym the first time they saw it on a forum or something... :)

I'm sure I read somewhere that KRAD pitched the title Quite Ugly One Morning, but I for one already own a book entitled that and it would be pretty strange to have two books with the same title on my shelves.
