Really? Wonder why we've never seen this evidence? Seems to me like that would have made baseballs case cut and dry. Noone would be carrying signs saying "Pete should be in the Hall" had they know he bet against his team.

All he had to do was keep his mouth shut for 5 years and he was in. He couldn't do that. .... he's an idiot ...

What does BB being a jackass have to do with anything? Bash Ruth in defense of Bonds? ... really? :guffaw:

Why aren't you bashing Hammerin Hank?

No doubt he took them. None whatsoever. His head grew for gods sake.

Let's just say he didn't take them... why aren't all his lawyers sueing for defomation?

...and baseball is better without him.

    No proof eh?

Big Mac, Bonds, Sosa all crush a 50+ year old record and thats just cause they were so damn good?

    Roberts hits 50?

The list goes on and on and on...

Now we've talked about the roid/HGH thing before. I personally think it's wrong to just punish the players. The just put Tony Larussa in the HOF for gods sake and his A's were juiced to the hilt. Noone is getting puished but the players and I think that is wrong.

Wow. Something that perfectly illustrates my complaint about the Yankees several pages after a big argument about precisely this.

Like I said, that was the deal that Bart Giamatti brokered. In exchange for baseball not making any findings of fact regarding the gambling (and allowing Rose to neither admit nor deny the charges), Rose accepted the lifetime ban. As a result, the evidence that Rose bet against the Reds was withheld from the Dowd Report.

Can Pablo Sandoval be Kung Fu Panda anymore? He's lost a ton of weight.

Keith Olbermann blocked a friend of mine on Twitter because he asked Olbermann if Gaylord Perry was also a disgrace to the game of baseball for cheating.

What a waste of time these games are.

I disagree, they maybe a waste for us here but not in the countries where these games take place. The outreach by MLB to enhance baseball by seeking talent outside the USA is important to the continued success of MLB. To truly make baseball an international sport you need to show off your best in places like Australia where baseball is making inroads.

Looks like Australia's got a lot of Dodger fans...

but they had to import an American PA announcer.

Nice to hear that Vin Scully made the trip, though!

    Why?

I was watching tonight's game, and I'm pretty sure I would be entertained if Vin Scully was reading the phone book. His anecdotes of the history of Australia and especially the Heckler statue were very much worth watching by themselves.

I watched both games and while baseball will never be anything more than a curiosity to me - and seeing the thing of beauty that is the SCG transformed in such a fashion was quite unsightly, to put it politely - I wasn't horribly bored or anything. I skipped most of the commentary (remarks like "a cricket-crazy country like Sydney" were too cringeworthy to sit through, and surely someone less of a complete dickhead than Ian Chappell could have been drafted in to provide local colour) but I'm impressed that someone took the time to learn about Yabba (the aforementioned "heckler") and pass that on to an audience probably more used to seeing my country as a series of clichés.

The cricket fan that I am, though, found it hilarious to see these blokes contorting themselves to attempt catches with the gloved hand that most cricketers would have taken without any drama at all. And it isn't as though a cricket ball is a soft, unyielding object, either.

If the experiment's repeated and it's on a channel I receive, I'd probably watch.

The Tigers just traded Steve Lombardozzi to the Orioles for Alex Gonzalez, who was an NRI and hasn't even played 50 games in a season since 2011.

I, uh, think Dave Dombrowski needs a good old-fashioned checkup from the neck-up, because this means he effectively traded Fister for Robbie Ray, Ian Krol and a busted Alex Gonzalez.

Lombardozzi has one of those good old fashioned baseball names.

Vin is always great, I just think these games are a waste because they are early season nobody cares games, why bother playing them over there? I don't buy it will further attention for baseball in Australia one bit.

^ Since the Australia games were part of the regular season, then by definition, they must matter.

I bet people do care. I'm craving regular season baseball, and these two games were regular season baseball, and one of them started at a reasonable hour. Also, if these early season games don't matter, than it's no wonder Opening Day is no longer a special occasion. I still think it is.
