I don't think so ... I copied that picture and amped-up the brightness and contrast and all I see are "bridge clamps" on the front and sides of the dome and aren't the right aspect ratio to match the main viewer behind Spock. I also notice that this Enterprise has a smooth hull, whereas the tiny piece visible behind Spock has several raised plates not unlike the Kelvin. Finally, the deflector grid doesn't cut through the middle of the dash in "NCC-1701" ... it's off center.

These are minor differences, but they suggest the Enterprise seen in the first trailer doesn't match the actual movie ship.

Wow! How did I miss that thread? The first thing I thought of when I saw that picture in this thread was PixelMagic's work on the shuttle from the spy pics and the TrekMovie.com contest for fake footage.

It's an excellent and accurate extrapolations as always.

Judging by what you've posted and the tone of it, I'm afraid that you've mischaracterized me as an Abrams "hater."

I was simply pointing out that I didn't think he was particularly well-spoken. Not a knock on him as a director. Just an observation.

You neglected to post that I qualified those statements with:

I downplay my original claim, and even present a reason for why he may not be particularly well-spoken; he's a visual person.

Abrams "hater," I'm not. Never was.

That was clear in my original post until it was manipulated into something it wasn't.

The slot on the trailer Enterprise is clearly not supposed to be the viewscreen for a few reasons. For one thing, as previously states, it's the wrong aspect ratio. Plus, it's way to low on the bridge module to be the viewscreen. Take a look at the scaffolding at the right off the trailer still, the one that starts at the end of "Enterprise" and follow it up to where it connects to the bridge module. There's a little speck that looks a lot like an opening, where the contruction crew can enter the ship. If that is a frame of reference for the scale of the entire ship, then the "slot" is far too big to be the viewscreen. The bridge is most likely inside the dome at the very top of the module.

Another difference I noticed between the trailer ship and the bit of hull we see through the viewscreen is the type used for the registry looks different. The is a much wider stroke around the lettering with a secondary, dark outlining stroke around that. The trailer ship only has a single, thin and light colored stroke.

I've been looking at the picture of Pine in the dark gray (black) shirt...

The picture of just him alone in costume on the white background.

    I'm scared.

    Look carefully at the shirt.

    Look again.

    Look at the lines.

I'm not positive, but I'm fairly certain.

It's the design of the TMP uniforms. Just a color we never saw.

    Look, compare.

    Tell me what you think.

    I'm scared.

    Someone....meld with me... [IMG]

I wonder where the rank insignia is displayed on the dress uniform?
That is if it is shown, maybe it is shown on a belt?

Leonard Nimoy and Nicholas Meyer are Directors I'd rank as insightful.

Yeah Ron Moore just wrote and produced those successful Star Trek shows and those high grossing Star Trek movies. Plus he has a Peabody award and BSG was voted "Times" 2005 show of the year.

Yeah I'm sure Moore is very jealous...

I only just now noticed that the heat pipe radiators (which even had ridges to maximize surface area) on both warp nacelles of Matt Jefferies' NCC-1701 are apparently no longer heat pipe radiators, but have instead morphed into devices that look suspiciously like air intakes.

    *sigh* :(

As far as second-rate television actors and third-rate studio publicists who briefly pretended to be film directors go, well, I suppose they are.

You can tell that from the pic in what you quoted? I really don't think there's enough detail there to tell.

They are ridged pipes attached to flat panels mounted on spacecraft components that presumably generate by far the greatest amount of waste heat when operating. What else could they be?
