We're pleased to announce that TrekToday will be be changing, with a completely new content management system (CMS) and taking on a more blog-like structure.

    Key benefits include:
    • You will be able to find, browse and keep up to date with news better than ever before. There will be categorised news as well as 'tags' to allow you to browse what intersts you.
    • There'll be a new RSS feed so you can subscribe to the latest Trek news
    • A search engine (finally) for the news system.
    • Standard blog features such as bookmarking via websites.
    • Integrated comments system so your thoughts on the news item are part of the news item itself*.
Ironically it means that TrekToday will be going full circle, and in taking a blog-style format for news items will be returning to how it started many years ago with the front page containing many news items -- not all of them requiring you to click into them. It means, from an editorial standpoint, that shorter more frequent news items can be created rather than trying to combine news to warrant a whole news item. In short, this means news gets to you faster.

The new system should launch on Sunday. It means the system will be very empty at first, but as news starts to get entered by T'Bonz the system will soon become populated with news.

I will try to import the old news later, but initially old news will just in archive format.

*comments will not be available at launch, but will come later and you will be able to login with your TrekBBS details to post comments.

This new system will be launched as a BETA. This means there will be rough edges, and we will welcome any feedback, bug reports etc. I will set up a dedicated sub-forum for this purpose.
