Was going to ask this on a different forum, but thought I'd get a good response from my favorite posters here. Got off work early enough to see Venus setting in the western sky & knew Mercury was nearby & got to thinking, what a close in hot Jupiter would look like from Earth if one were where Mercury was & gravity from the giant allowed our home to be where it is now. Thinking it would be quite a sight.
There is a video file attached to a similar thread: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=209545&highlight=distance+Moon
My actual thinking for the post was that Venus is so bright in the sky that something Jupiter sized or bigger would be the brightest 'star' in the sky. Would be a sight for sure.
