How about that "OMG" is a terrible and unhelpful thread title?

I kinda thought it might be a thread about, I dunno, Justin Bieber or something. I feel cheated.

I've never had that reaction to a synopsis. I did try...

But why does God need a link to a website?

A synopsis right up there with Spock's Brain 2: They Lost it Again.

    LOL (for real)

Wait--why am I laughing? Abrams (and his audience) would probably love it. Pitch it man!

Why would He need Heaven or earth? All creation is merely a trapping to Him, if you look at it square.

I'd have kind of liked to have seen the idea of the two escaped criminals recycled into another script, though. That scene in the transporter room, where Russell has a phaser at Kirk's head, sounds like a good one. We don't often see phasers pointed at heads like that. Although with TOS, you have to wonder 1) why you would need to, since the old effect was complete annihilation, and, 2) I wouldn't want to be that close to a phaser discharge at that setting. But it's no more a head-scratcher of a scene than many we've seen in TOS.

"His Audience"? All this to set up some tired swipe at Abrams and the people who enjoyed his films?

Huh? Not at all. King Daniel really made me laugh, and then the first thing I thought of was, yeah, a remake of Spock's Brain would go over with the Rambotrek crowd. Just a natural thought. It would never have occurred to me to set out to do what you're suggesting, not with fellow Trekkers. If I'd wanted to decry Abrams Trek as some primary purpose, I'd have done so directly. You must admit it's simply natural to think of Abrams Trek in most Trek-relared lights, for no other reason than that it is now the Trek with the mantle of Trek; on that fact we all agree.

I just thought this was one helluva goofy thing--baby Enterprise with Kirk as daddy--to a son, no less. Now I'm thinking of the Enterprise going all Oedipal.

And--who's Jocasta? Is this Demon Seed with Grace Lee Whitney in the Julie Christie role? The mind boggles. And doesn't always move linearly.

I haven't clicked on the link, but this must be about "Rock-a-bye-baby or Die" by George Clayton Johnson.

Off topic, I agree with Nerys Myk, no need to take a swipe at folks that like the Abrams films. Seems low class.

Not too much on topic, really, if you couldn't click the link, but yes, it's about that. Bizarre stuff I thought. And this being written by the writer of The Man Trap seems about right. I never thought much of TMT.

"The Man Trap" is by no means a top ten episode, but it's entertaining enough.

Never got the hate. But then I like "The Omega Glory". So what do I know?

I like "The Man Trap" well enough, although what I have read of Johnson's draft is better than Roddenberry's rewrite.

"The Omega Glory" is crap, though. There's no accounting for taste. :p

That would be a good thread title if Data Holmes ever gets a job.

With a thread title like OMG, I thought maybe one of the original cast members croaked or something. But an OMG for an unproduced outline nearly 50 years old? Please. :shifty:

Okay, I think this has run its course (such as it was).
