I get the sense that Guy had a bad experience with a girl and his comics.

Well, if you count the time I stacked all my short boxes until they looked like a WNBA player, then... Maybe?

Rather than making a horribly misogynist comment as I first read... I realize now you meant "stacked"...

    Staked?

You honestly think that I would devalue my comics like that?

    For sure :D

I actually had the Spider-Man in Winnipeg one. I got it (believe it or not) at a youth Hockey tournament in Canada. It was in a gift bag for the players, among other things.

It also had Power Pack and was written by Dwayne McDuffie I believe. I remember the comic very well as I believe I had it as well.

    Hey, is Uncanny X-Men 500 a good jumping-on point for the X-Men?

Uncanny X-Men #600 is Bendises last book.

It's the worst place to signup.

#601 is probably what you're looking for.

Of course since Bendis didn't even do 3 full years on his two x-titles, you could probably read all his trades in a weekend at Borders.

    Is Borders still a thing?

    500. Brubaker and Fraction. Or would the beginning of Fraction's run be better?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

    Uncanny X-Men #500 was released July 23, 2008.

It's no worse than another point?

But #544 is the last issue, before Uncanny was renumbered to #1, which in a month or so is being renumbered back to #600.

Following all that editorially inspired clusterfuckery might require a hound dog.

Well, it seems from what I can gather that early 2000s X-Men was not good, aside from Morrison and Whedon. And I definitely don't want to deal with anything from Claremont. So is there a better place pre-Bendis to pick up the story?

    I liked Keiron Gillen's run.

Kieron Gillen's run is great. Some of Fraction's run is great. If you like space Ed Brubaker's run is a must read. I wouldn't say there is a specific pre-Bendis jumping on point. I think I started reading again when Fraction brought back Kitty.
