When Canada becomes part of the U.S. it will have states. ;)

    How many?

The power of the state reflects the votes given in the electoral college.

3 or 4 superstates, or 20 tiny knownothings states who know their place and can't collective push their unified weight around to Catch the sheer force of Canada?

If Canada was one state, it would have 4 times many electoral votes than any other state and might as well as be an overclass lording it over the plebs form Old America.

Well, the Senate is fairly undemocratic as it is, so I don't have a problem giving each Province 2 Senators. Except Prince Edward Island because that would be stupid.

I can't believe I'm entertaining this conversation, but...how's that? Canada's total population is slightly less than that of California. It's geographically 3 times the size of the U.S. (IIRC), but not nearly as densely populated.

Sorry, dirty foreigner here, I'd assumed that electoral college votes were based on GDP or resources, or something as arbitrary that equates to "power" after seeing the disparity between some of the block votes attributed to each state on those election night boards. My bad. 538 electoral votes, generated from 435 congressmen, plus 100 senators, and the 3 magic representatives of the District of Colorado. Senators are 2 per state fixed, but congressmen are 1 per 700,000 citizens, although they still have to have 1 congressman per state no matter how small their state is.

Canada has a population of 35 million ( I thought it would have been twice that!), but if most of their provinces (there are only 10.) have less than 700,000, this works in their favour, that they can have an entire congressman representing 5 guys and a moose.

But still that's 30 votes minimum.

Quebec has 8 million people = 11 congressmen

Ontario has 12 million people = 17 congressmen

Alberta has 3.6 million people = 5 congressmen

british Columbia has 4.4 million people = 6 congressmen

(Every other province has almost less than a million people.)

So, that means 65 electoral votes is what Canada could chose to wield with spite is they felt petty after losing the war.

Anyway...guessing we add Italy to the list of nations participating in SHIELD for Cinema'Verse purposes?
