Hrm. Are those time limited at 1 dollar each like the SXSW tracks?

After blowing even more money on DC last night, I realized how badly I need some Ozzy in there.

MSNBC article about Rock Band 2

A sequel to the play-along music game that redefined the genre last year will be released first for the Xbox 360 in September, according to publisher MTV Games and developer Harmonix. "Rock Band 2" will feature a new variety of instruments, online modes and songs, and will allow players to import their previously purchased "Rock Band" tunes.

    .....

"Rock Band" allows up to four gamers to form a virtual band, thrashing and singing along to songs with friends online or in-person on various phony instruments. The second edition will feature a playlist of over 80 songs — all master recordings — which will include more female-fronted bands and artists who have never contributed tunes to a music game.

    .....

All prior versions of "Rock Band" instruments, as well as many from the competing "Guitar Hero" franchise, will also be compatible with "Rock Band 2." Harmonix will unleash a collection of new instrument-shaped controllers, including a sturdier drum kit and a Fender Stratocaster reproduction guitar lined with faux wood-grain buttons.

    .....

MTV Games and Harmonix are releasing 12 "Rock Band" songs on July 15 from The Who — ranging from "My Generation" to "Who Are You" — that all utilize the band's master recordings. The tracks will be available for $1.99 individually or $19.99 together. The special release coincides with the upcoming "VH1 Rock Honors" ceremony commemorating The Who.

    • Young Man Blues (LIVE)

Some classic songs on the list. I am curious to see how the game handles (if it does at all) the organ/synth parts on Baba O'Riley.

No, the actual Top Gun Anthem. That's the name of it. The instrumental. Not Kenny Loggins.

"You, you are dangerous. You can be my wingman anytime!"

Hah, yeah, the anthem is a nice surprise.

Also, I hope HMX announce that RB2 has a song creator at E3 or... well, GH4 is going to become the "hardcore" game that the nerds will flock to. And you know, I'll flock to there too because I know that there will be some nerd who will make guitar version of Final Fantasy and Nintendo music that I'll need to play.

Oh, and of course, Canon Rock!

^Rock Band 2 will not have a creation feature, so say Harmonix.

This, plus the rumour that Activision is allowing Strats to be used in their games instead of the Red Octane garbage makes GHWT almost guaranteed for me.

Not a rumour. The Rock Band guitar works with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, at least on the Xbox 360.

Seems to have mixed results... at least according to Joystiq. I don't think I'm going to pick up that game to test it out though.

Still, we'll see if this is just a bug of if this is a real change in policy. I still think Activision is evil enough to patch the game so that the Strat doesn't work anymore...

I might be getting 3/4 songs this week.

What sucks is that I broke my 2nd bass pedal recently. This one broke down the middle. Anyone know if it is repairable with a plate to reinforce it?

Also, RB has prompted me to order this:

For those that are serious about bass pedals, azuritereaction on YouTube recommends the Destroyer Pedal as a total replacement for the standard.

I have no idea if it is any good as I am.. not very good.. on the drums.
