Legendary Actress Diana Rigg cast as Queen of Thorns according to Daily Mail:

I think Rigg would be a great choice, but it's the Daily Mail, so who knows? It's not encouraging that they don't know the third season has already started shooting.

There was speculation out there that Rigg was involved, maybe that was what the Daily Mail was running with.

I'm not sure why Dondarrion has been re-cast . . . but really, he was only in 1 episode in season 1 and I doubt it'll make much difference

I also think Tormund Giantsbane was well cast

I guess we will not be seeing Cat visiting her father in his deathbed.

Good to see Anguy, but what about Tom O'Sevens?

I sincerely doubt there was ever any question of the season one Beric playing the role in season three. David Michael Scott was basically a featured extra, someone they used to set up that plot point without the impracticalities of finding a permanent actor two years before you need him to do any real acting.

This isn't necessarily a full list of new characters; we know they're casting Mance Rayder and Daario Naharis for season three and there's been no announcement on either one, so there's at least a little more to come.

So thoughts on who should be Ramsay, Vargo or Mance?

    Dream cast or realistic choices?
Dream cast - David Oakes as Ramsay and James Purefoy as Mance. I don't care much about Vargo.
But judging from all the previous casting, I'm sure Nina Gold will find the best possible actors for those roles.

I think sometimes realistic can fall in line with Dream. I mean last year they signed a couple of well known television actors to Game of Thrones. I wouldn't mind a recognizable face as Mance

Mance is big enough role for someone recognizable, Ramsay probably too. Vargo - not sure.

So - into book two now...

How are they going to deal with the whole Rhaegar thing in the series I wonder?

In the books, he seems a quite important person for a dead guy. I assume that all of the remembering the POV characters are doing in the books must be leading somewhere.

Are they just going to up in season X, Y or Z have loads of exposition explaining his importance or just drop it?

But how can they drop it as the books hint at the true story of what went down in the rebellion being pivotal?

and if they do cast Rhaegar...I would like Tom Hiddleston

I imagine they'll start doing infodumps about Rhaegar when he becomes immediately relevant to the story, if the TV series lasts that long. Benioff and Weiss don't seem terribly interested in playing out gradual revelations and mysteries, so from their perspective there's no point layering in his history until just before he's revealed to be Jon's father (or whatever).

I could have sworn I already heard about them casting Mance.
