I knew McGann wasn't all that tall.

    IMDB Tennant Page
Tennant was the one that surprised me, I thought he was an inch or so under 6 Ft, but, he's 6'1"

    IMDB Smith Page
Smith is only 5'11.5" ? I thought Smith was well over 6ft, at least 6'2"

    Tom Hopper IMDB Page

Tom Hopper (Jeff in Eleventh Hour and also Percival on Merlin) is 6'5"

    Or a black man:

    Doctor: "What! What!"

    Clara: "What's wrong?"

Doctor: "My Penis, it reaches into the other room!!"

    Yeah I'll leave now.

About the height change...maybe the youngest doctor ever:

    *Doctor regenerates*
Doctor (to Clara): Are you my mommy?

I don't see why this is any kind of issue. Every Bond auditions to lines written for Connery (specifically the seduction scene between 007 and Tatiana in From Russia With Love) The words don't matter, it's the delivery.

Often happens: if you watch Blake's 7 carefully enough, you can spot the effort Michael Keating puts into ensuring that Vila seems shorter than Avon, even though he's taller than Paul Darrow.

I agree. A good actor will put their own stamp on the lines. My recollection is that RTD said that he pretty much wrote the 10th Doctor the same as the 9th but that Tennant made him sound and act different from Eccleston.

I read the audition lines in my head in Smith's voice but that's because he's been such a distinctive Doctor and the most recent one I've seen (the scene is also admittedly quite like the 'fish fingers and custard' one). But I'm not an actor. A good actor will come in, put their own spin on it and make it sound like the Twelfth Doctor.

    That's funny.
I read the script and all I could hear was my own voice.
Well, I base a lot of my Doctor on my Doctor, Tom Baker but it was still my own voice. Which really makes me think that this isn't funny but really, really cool! So excited and sooo delusional...

THE DOCTOR: Have you changed height?
    CLARA: No.
THE DOCTOR: Strange... Mmm... The hair... Reminds me of my third.
    CLARA: Ahem...
    THE DOCTOR: What?
    CLARA: You are...
    THE DOCTOR: What?
    CLARA: A woman.
THE DOCTOR: Oh, come on, be more open-minded... I hope it's not white. I do not think it sits well in that colour.
    CLARA: What?
    THE DOCTOR: The hair.
CLARA: How could it be white, you look barely 30!
THE DOCTOR: Oh, come on, be more open... Uh-oh...
    CLARA: What?
THE DOCTOR: I guess you were right... [adjusts pants]
CLARA: You should have trusted me, I am not that Sontaran fellow...
THE DOCTOR: You knew that all along, didn't you? And you gave me no warning as you watched me regenerate? Ah, you sly girl! [shakes finger, concealing her embarrassment]
CLARA: Who needs to be more open-minded again?
THE DOCTOR: I need to change... [runs inside the TARDIS]
CLARA: You looked just fine in your present outfit... [contemplates]
THE DOCTOR: [comes back] Could you come for a sec, I think I need a little bit of help.
CLARA: Now, that is new... [grins]

    Re-edited for Peter Capaldi.

Contains a lot of potty words.

LOL that's what I was thinking earlier. Insert an expletive in every other word and you can imagine Peter Capaldi speaking it.

Now, be careful, children looking for Peter Capaldi might find this page and read these curse words. I much prefer my family-friendly interpretation in which the Doctor is running naked around the TARDIS cause she can't figure how to put her bra on. :p

On a serious note, has anyone tried reading over the lines and imagining Capaldi saying them? I'll admit, I can totally see it working when I try.

Has anybody seen the documentary "Bidding Adieu," about the making of the 1996 TV-Movie? It was done on the cheap, but was basically Sylvester McCoy's video diary of his time in Canada shooting the movie. The relevance is that McCoy gets to do, in voice-over, two Hartnell classic speeches: the "Have you ever wondered what it's like to be wanders in the fourth dimension..." one, and the "One day, I shall come back..." one. He does a magnificent job with both.
