Isn't it much the same as Vulcan or Vulcanian ?

I've always had the impression that 'Trekkie' is the general term and 'Trekker' is something hardcore fans prefer for some reason. Best to go with the more popular one in my opinion.

A little bit from column A, a little bit from column B, if I happen to go by that list someone provided.

    (Shrugs)

I'm a dork. I always have been, and a small portion of that applies to Star Trek.

Best advice I've heard all day.

But, you were probably just talking about their opinion of Star Trek, weren't you?

Vague memories... I had read some "Making of Star Trek" (or something like that) book when I was a kid, and IIRC I came out of it stating I was a "Trekker". But I do remember that I had to stand up in front of my 8th grade English class to give a report or something, and I must have made the subject Star Trek because I remember that I had a black Nike shirt and wrote "Trekkie" on a post card and taped it to my shirt over the word Nike. I assume that I thought that was witty at the time. The early 80's are a haze... I think I must have done a little too much LDS in college...

Anyway, I like the sound of Trekker more than Trekkie. But I'm sure I'll still refer to myself as a simply a Trek fan. I really just posted this thread so I wouldn't offend anyone in the future.

Whoever came up with that has it the wrong way around.

“Vulcanian” was used early in Trek TOS. I believe the last episode in which it was heard was “Court Martial.” Since “Vulcan” sounded like an adjective anyway, it was simpler to use the same word for both the planet and its inhabitants.

Actually, come to think of it, Vulcans should be from the planet Vulc.
I gave an oral report on Star Trek in my 11th grade Spanish class -- in Spanish. Hell, the whole school already knew I was one of the geeks.

My name in French class was of course Jean-Luc.

I really don't care about being called "Trekker" or "Trekkie". For my friends I'm totally Trekkie (I showed them the list which was quoted by the 4th hanson bro). My birthday gift was a T-Shirt with photo of Kirk&Spock&McCoy and sign "I'm Trekkie!".
I feel like a big Star Trek fan, that's it.
