Ooh, I think it's better that way. I'd get rid of the third nacelle, because I never liked the designs with three (including the refit 1701-D from the TNG finale.) Otherwise it's a good start.

I agree with you about the third nacelle. The design looks much better without it.
But seriously, the spike in the center makes it look awesome!

I agree about having no third nacelle also. The spike is a great version of the super-phaser that we saw in the All Good Things D

It is quite a brutal looking ship. I liked the third nacelle from above but seen from in front the impression is quite different.

Not too shabby, just bevel some edge loops where they're needed and you g2g ;)

I wish the Vengence in the film has 3 naceles - to jibe with Frantz Josepth's designs better. And adding a weapon-or making the split saucer cut a weapon - makes the split saucer make much more sense...rather than just...pointless and inconvenient.

I realize I'm responding to someone's thread necromancy, but if the OP is still looking on, I'd REALLY like to see this design with FOUR nacelles - with either a single pylon in the middle with a nacelle on either side of it, or with twin pylons rising straight up from the middle, each with a nacelle.

The design is awesome, as is, too, though. :techman:

In other words, a battleship, like the Ares or Yamato class.

Weirdly enough, I haven't been on here for AGES and just happened to click on the art page here and came across this old post! I'm working on my own variant of one of the Excelsior study models atm, but sure, I'll post a 4 engined variant up of 'The Beast' for ya...

Forgive if I missed it - did this design ever get a name?
