I kind of figured, because the title sequence(s) we got with the firs 5 episodes of the series seemed like an intermediate thing, not a long term concept.

I've not been a fan of the 11th Doctors titles and theme. So hopefully it's a chnage for the better.

That had been the rumour around the Tavern for a while, along with a new logo for the 40th anniversary year... though that may just be the TARDIS/50 symbol that's already popping up on merchandise. Unfortunately nobody dared ask The Boss when he popped in last month!

This really is starting to look like a "The Leisure Planet" retool.

I hope we go back to using space instead of the time vortex

I just hope it's a better version of the theme, more akin to the RTD era version (especially season 4) - the Moff/Smith era theme is fucking awful, down there with the McCoy era theme - hell, down there with the twangy alternate 3rd Doctor theme from Australia...

While I agree the current version of the theme isn't really that good, the version used in the McCoy era is one of my favourites.

Agreed. I've never understood the hate for the McCoy theme. Maybe it's because I grew up on it (along with the Pertwee/Baker theme) but I've always found it rather awe-inspiring. I listened to it once on a moonless night while out in the Pacific Ocean this past summer. The stars were out in full force and the theme brought forth the sheer awe and majesty of the universe.

But maybe it's just me. *shrug*

The Trial of a Time Lord version certainly sounded weird. I'll leave it at that.

I'd like to hear something akin to the original (or even the original), or at least the Series 1-3 version. I can't stand the Series 4 arrangement. When Partners in Crime went out, I actually adjusted the sound settings on my TV, since the bassline was so buried in the mix I assumed it had to be a mistake.

There does seem to be a trend that each new version from Murray Gold seems to make the stuff from Ron Grainer's original music less noticeable, and the stuff Gold's added as orchestration more prominent.

I'm a fan of early Tom Baker ones, so I have to disagree here. To me, it's second only to the original theme, where the music beats everything else and it just looks genuinely otherworldly.

They're usually influenced by what is big at the time (80s = synthesizer, etc).

So I'm expecting Justin Beiber to sing it.
