Color me unsurprised given your Trek history. (It's not that TOS is inherently bad - I just wish that it took up less than a third of the schedule!)
Thanks! For the record, I just finished what are (hopefully) the final revisions to the TOS/Voyager book . . . .
I've decided I actually do like TOS, what I dont like is 5YM alien of the week stories. Unfortunately thats what most TOS is, but there is so much more it could be.
Is it just that you prefer writing TOS stories set during the 5YM as compared to other timeframes, or even other iterations of Star Trek? When i looked on Memory Beta, I couldn't find any full length novels by you, for another iteration of trek, since the Q-Continuum books from the late 1990's. I know you wrote a few short stories and novella's, but nothing full length..
Well, I grew up on TOS so it's still near and dear to my heart. Don't get me wrong; I watched all the later shows religiously while they were on the air, but TOS is the only Trek series I own in its entirety or watch with any regularity. Plus, part of the appeal of writing 5YM books is that I can basically go off and do my own thing without having to worry about meshing my plot with some complicated, over-arching continuity. I can see where that kind of collaborative enterprise can be stimulating in its own way (I enjoyed working out 4400 story arcs with Dave Mack), but there's something to be said for being able to work independently and explore my own favorite corners of the Trek universe without having to coordinate my efforts with eight other authors! Just as a personal preference. Besides, its seems to me that the 24th century is in good hands these days!
I'm definitely looking forward to getting your Tos/Voyager crossover novel next year.I like the new Tos books that have come out this year.
Fair enough. If that's what you prefer, then that's what you prefer. But, if you ever plan on hanging out in the post-TV series 24th century, i'll be there

The spoilers are there not because the blurbs are actually going to spoil anything, but because the blurbs would make it a rather long post and with the spoiler codes, it's easier to read the book titles. Oh, I almost forgot, you should edit your quote of my post as I've edited my post since you've quoted mine.
I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he did it to avoid an overlong post. If he really did it to avoid spoilers ...... ETA: Seems as if I was right (and way to slow when typing on my phone).
If you say so, and if you know how to edit a post, why post twice in a row, as for editing what you wrote, I'll pass.
Thanks! And never say never. If Pocket called me tomorrow and asked me to write a new 24th Century book, I surely wouldn't say no. In the meantime, I'm having plenty of fun in the 23rd century . . .
You know, I've been thinking about that . . . . Funny story. I've been writing so much TOS stuff in recent years that I actually made a silly mistake in the first draft of my TOS/Voyager book. I described Seven's tricorder as hanging by a strap over her shoulder. My editor had to remind me that Voyager's crew didn't use that kind of bulky, TOS-style tricorder anymore. Oops!
That would be great. There is so much to fill-in and/or do new stuff that's just new. (IMHO), we've had enough 5yr mission to make it 10 years. If you do get to do movie era TOS and do write Savvik, please write her as the Kirsty Ally (original) Savvik. The Robin Curtis Savvik is just too stiff and not as appealing.
