No one would have believed, in the last days of the year of our Lord 2012, that Starfleet affairs were being watched, across the timeless gulfs of space, from the inscrutable planet Mars ... (with profound apologies to H.G. Wells) Once again, Man is on the red planet, that world which, more than any other besides our own, has stirred our imagination and chilled our hearts. This year alone, we've sent both John Carter and Curiosity across the void, with wildly different levels of success, and so Albertese challenged us all to view Star Trek through the red lens. Let the invasion begin! The God of War commands your vote for the next 2 days, the lone survivor to challenge the September soldiers (artistically speaking!). (By the way, some of these entries may require a bit of context, so links have been included to threads where they have been posted.) Mars attacks! =========== B.J. This one was really hard! As a classical music fan, I appreciated B.J.'s entry. I really liked the idea behind Klaus's entry. I really liked the composition and color use in Ptrope's entry. But ultimately, I was swayed by the cheescake and voted for Redfern. --Alex
Yeah, I was a bit startled when I got your entry and saw those walkers! Of course, it's Mars, after all, so I guess it was almost inevitable .
Congrats, Ptrope, on your win with your very cool mashup! Now get your butt in here so we can start September's challenge!
Thanks, B.J., for that inspirational message . And, of course, for the congrats - I didn't really know if the image in my mind was going to actually work . I already have the next challenge pretty firmly in mind, and since I'm on vacation this week , I'll have it up today!
