We're not allowed story ideas here, so less of the how and why and more of the who. My pick: Leonard James Akaar. Big Bland himself. Lets have someone else take over Starfleet.
^ Prominent canon characters being killed? Not so likely. There'll probably be a resurrection if it does happen though.
Can't we just wound somebody? I suppose rather than kill someone off, I'd like confirmation on what happened to a few characters who have fallen off the radar. Zek and Ishka - are they still alive? William Ross - did he survive the Borg Invasion? (Given that he retired to a deliberately low profile, it makes sense - and might even be preferable - that we never see him again, but I'd like to know if he made it through). Most important of all, did Ihasz the Takaran crime lord escape Deneva?! I don't care if he left the Balduks behind, but someone get this man to a ship!
Just retire Akaar already. Do we need to have a head of SF character, during the TV series they just tended to trot out an admiral when they needed a bit of top brass action
There are two canon heads of Starfleet: Admiral Morrow from TSFS and Admiral Bill from TUC. Personally, I was annoyed we never found out who held the position at all in the 24th century.
Well, of sorts, Someone-hopefully-more-interesting Dax I swear the only two interesting things she's ever done is get verbally eviscerated by Garak and school Worf on how dishonourable the klingon leadership had become.
I thought Fleet Admiral Shanthi (seen in "Redemption, Part II" and mentioned in "The Pegasus") was supposed to be the head of Starfleet? http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Shanthi
Spoiler: VOY: The Eternal Tide Janeway. I just don't agree with the idea of resurrecting characters who have been killed.
Sigh, one major example and everyone thinks its normal. Spoiler: spoiler agreed, especially since it makes her a karma houdini.
