Doctor Strange occasionally crossed over into horror, but he was really about surreal fantasy. Trippy other dimensions and stuff. Hopefully his expeditions beyond the mortal plane are as far out as they were with Ditko and Colan.

 

The recent animated movie wasn't horror and it was quite good.

 

Deadline Hollywood is saying Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy are on Marvel's wishlist to play Dr Strange.

Why can't Zachary Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch play everybody?

Both good choices for Strange. I really wish Pedro Pascal would get some consideration though.

 

I would love to see Johnny Depp.

My second choice would be Luke Evans.

 

Daniel Day-Lewis is my ideal but it will never happen.

 

I'd go older and cast Liam Neeson. Won't happen, though.

 

Neeson would do anything if the pay cheque is right but I don't think he's what Marvel is after.

 

Yeah, I meant that Marvel wouldn't offer it to him, not that he'd turn it down.

 

I'd still like to see Oded Fehr in the role (I know, won't happen).

 

Oded Fehr was a fan favorite to be cast as Iron Man before RDJ got the role.

Come to think of it, if these weren't shared universe films RDJ would make a great Dr Strange.

 

Dark Horizons is saying Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy are being courted for roles in Dr. Strange. Great Googa Mooga I hope it's true and I hope they get them.

 

Glad to hear this is happening for sure. My only familiarity (for now) with the character is the animated movie, but I enjoyed it and I love these kinds of stories and characters.
I would love to see either Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hardy in the role. I'm a big fan of both of them. Is Dr. Strange British, or will they probably have them do American accents?

 

I'm pretty sure Stephen Strange is American in the comics, but I don't recall anything intrinsically American about him that would require him to remain such in the movie. But they'd probably stick as close to his roots as they can in the movie.

 

The character is American. But so is Professor X.
