In a no weapons battle, who'd win between a prime Andre and Worf? Worf has the speed advantage but I'd say Andre is certainly stronger. And Andre also has a massive height advantage. You have until the count of 10 to get back into the ring. I mean, answer, of course.
From what I have seen on screen, i'd have to pick Andre. Klingons are supposed to be superhuman, but we see them tangling with humans in pretty even fights quite constantly. Andre WAS superhuman, some of the accounts of his strength are incredible, the guy was what 500lb? and in his prime he could move.
First of all, this is probably my favorite TrekBBS topic of all time! Any topic whose title can make me crack up is a good one. Thinking back to Worf's history, yeah, he's probably going to lose. And an earlier poster is right: Klingons, at least those portrayed on screen, can be beaten by humans in hand to hand combat. Hell, forget just humans: I still remember Major Kira kicking serious Klingon butt AFTER getting stabbed in the side in "Way of the Warrior". Sometimes I think the Klingon warrior tradition is overrated. Of course, it'll look like that because we're seeing them fight our heroes.
Worf used to job to everyone, so probably Andre. Did Worf ever not get his shit pushed in outside of DS9?
Andre always had severe health and back problems, like most acromegaly patients. His strength was mostly show.
Anybody want a peanut?! Sorry, I just had too! I'd say Worf, the guy beat down every Jem'Hadar he fought, that has to count for something! He has indomitable will!
This kind of thread is best served with liberal amounts of alcohol. Sober, I'd have to give the advantage to Worf. I can't help but see, in my mind's eye, Andre moving a lot like the Gorn from Arena. Worf's agility would be a huge advantage.
This. While acromegaly patients(a pituitary disorder and that can lead to not just great height be thick bones and great streng) may have almost superhuman strength, they have many, many health issues, as well. There are stories that when a young man, Andre would move his friends' cars around as a practical joke, and he threw wrestlers like Black jack Mulligan (6'6" 350 lb) around like rag dolls, but he far from agile and had many health issues
The question was actually Andre the Giant vs Worf, not André Roussimoff. I'd argue that Andre the Giant was as much a fictional character as Worf was. But just to be clear, this is all still very wink-worthy, I'm not really arguing with you or anything. Just lobbing the ball back and forth.
