Vote for the show that you think is better in terms of cast and plots.

Casts includes the main cast and the supporting cast of each show including protagonist and antagonist roles.

Plots includes the episodes that carry the main storyline (aliens in The X-files and dimensional travel/time travel theme in Fringe) and "monster of the week" episodes.

X-Files was a better show in every way... except for the way it slowly got worse and worse and ended horribly

    X-Files. Fringe is a cheap production-line copy.

    I said out, dammit!
Both your pictures are X-Files, ya know. Your "Fringe" picture is a late-season X-Files picture, after Mulder left. Or did ya think Gillian Anderson was in both shows?

I posted the Fringe picture but it is gone for some reason. Let me repost it.

X-files has typically been listed as one of the top 50 shows of all time, usually places in the top 2-3 in regards to cult shows, and is the one program that whenever you have any kind of paranormal/spooky TV series, always tries to compare it too.

    X-files by a long shot.

Has to be The X-Files. One of my absolute favourite shows ever to air, at least for the first 6 seasons. I have marathoned the whole show three times in the past decade and appreciate it more each time. Favourite episodes include Bad Blood, Home, The Post-Modern Prometheus and Jose Chung's From Outer Space.

Most fans will say it turns to shit after Mulder leaves but I actually think Season 8 was better than the very tired Season 7. Season 9 is shitty though and I Want To Believe is a bizarre mess. I have no iea what Chris Carter was going for there. It's a poor Silence of the Lambs knock-off that arrived way too late to seem interesting.

I think X-Files started out very strong and stayed strong for about 5 or 6 years, and then died a slow and horrible death.

Fringe started OK, had some very uneven moments, but continued to improve and ended very well (IMHO), completing its run after 5 years.

So in overall quality, I think X-Files is the clear winner, but I still have a lot of affection for Fringe.

I've never liked the X-Files, the characters, the actors, the story arcs. Some episodes were very well made and entertaining, though. Fringe, I liked very much.

They are both similar to me.

Both have decent characters that were wooden in the beginning. Both had awesome story arcs. Both ended so horribly I never want to watch either show ever again.

They're both great shows and asking me to choose is liking asking me which of my nieces I like best.

I liked everything about Fringe. The X-Files was a phenomenon and it bored me to death.

I enjoyed both quite a bit. Preferred the cast of Fringe (Walter trumps any three other characters) but slightly preferred the overall storyline of X-Files (at least until season 6).

Can't wait for JJ to remake the X-Files, though.

I haven't seen The X-Files all the way through, so I can't really comment on it, but I'm watching through Fringe right now. I'm skeptical that The X-Files has any characters who can match Walter.

JJ can remake everything (except Dune or Flash Gordon :)).

The X-Files is better, Fringe was pretty good in seasons 2 and 3, everything else was either dull or bad.

The X-Files was a fantastic show for many years, it lost some of its appeal towards the end but it was always watchable.
