What characters from the TV shows who should have appeared in the movies? I would have liked to see Commander Tomalak in Nemesis.

I wish Q had appeared in NEM. Or Samantha Stevens or Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie." A nose-twitch or poof -- and all would have been better. I'd even settle for Gilligan or the Skipper.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised that Q never appeared in any of the NextGen movies, given how popular the character is.

As for the TOS films, I suppose it would have been nice to see one of the original Klingons, like Kor or Kang, if only for nostalgia's sake.

I would have loved to have seen a cameo or larger appearance of Kevin Reilly, back in the day of original series movies. He was too good a character to have been limited to only two episodes.

There really should have been a Q movie.

Q is good for an episode, but he's basically a giant representation of deus ex machina. The episodes with Q on them are great, but almost always the focus is then no longer on the crew, because the consequences of Q's actions cannot be controlled by them. They are simply reacting to what Q does. This would make for a not-so-great movie, because in a movie, the focus is supposed to be on the characters and them dealing with situations and triumphing, hopefully with a lot of action to boot.

Q would have been fine for a cameo appearance, but not an entire movie around him. Tomolak or even Sela would have been better than Shizon for Nemesis. It would have also been nice to see some of the DS9 characters in a movie like Gul dukat, Garak , Quark, or any of the station crew.

How would Q only be good for a cameo but Sela, Tomalok be good to have a whole movie built around?

Q has limitless story potential, the others are one trick villains there to simply offer a stumbling block for the crew. Give me Shinzon every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Sela and Tomalok.

Q needed a film all to himself. He was by far the most important recurring character in TNG. To not give him a movie is just wrong.

That's why Q is horrible for a movie. There's no way to defeat or overcome Q, so in the end he just presents situations for the crew to deal with that come out of nowhere with no way to stop them. He's good for episodes where there is some sort of lesson to learn and he is the teacher, but again, then the focus is on Q and less so the main characters. It doesn't work for a movie.

You don't think Kor (or maybe even Harry Mudd, if they could have found a lookalike) should have turned up on Rure Penthe in TUC?

That movie really NEEDED some bit of trek history to anchor the detour into King Solomon's Asteroid Mines.

Those two guys who arbitrated to get screen credit on TUC did an interview one time where they mentioned that their idea (take that statement with a grain of salt, they claim a lot of credit which may have just been writing down what other people came up with) was running into a lot of old characters while on Rure.

I consider "All Good Things" to be the Q movie. It was certainly a hell of a lot better written than every single TNG film.

He almost made it. A ST VI publicist hosted an audience poll at a big US convention. They voted out Riley by a very narrow margin, and that's how Janice Rand returned as Sulu's communications officer. Then her lines were cut when Christian Slater was suddenly given one of her scenes: waking up Sulu.

    Quark's cut scene in "Insurrection":

It wouldn't have been any more silly than the boobs joke, Riker shaving his beard, or Picard doing the mambo.

No. It would have been a LOT worse.
People shave beards. I can believe that.
Even Picard realized that dancing the Mambo was wrong and he stopped.
The boobs joke...well, not too much you can say about that, but at least you can mute the sound for a few seconds.

Nope. It would have been a distraction from the story and it makes the universe feel small.
