That's a good idea, Barb. I'll dig up their websites so people can check on their progress.

Oh, and in the "Already Out" catagory, you can add two animations by DMAC6806 at Go!Animate, which are more easily watched from my website than his (what else is new?)... Star Trek: Kobayachi Maru, based on a novel by Julia Ekler, and Star Trek: In They Image. My brand new webpage for DMAC6806 is http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/63.html

Maybe I mistyped. Counter Worlds hasn't released it's first episode in full yet. the segments it has released (Parts 1, 2, and 3.1) have been out for a while. However in a private e-mail the creator/filmmaker has told me he expected it would be completed some time this year and have a public airing at a convention.

And Lost Frontier get's the short end of the stick again, not even included in the listing for "No Release Date Set" ... :(

He wants to stay with G and PG13 rated stuff, so, that's it. It's in this thread, so, somebody looking can find it.

Or, they can go to Star Trek Reviewed, and find all of the fan films I've located...

    Two things:

I'm quite confused as to why he seems to adamant about ignoring Lost Frontier, when he has been reviewing other audio productions such as Star Trek: Defiant and Star Trek: Excelsior.

By his own admission, Captain Randy Hall hasn't even listened to the series, so how would he even know if the series is PG-13 or not?

From that same thread, on the first page:

I'm certainly not suggesting he listen to ALL 15 released episodes at once, but being that the average length of a Lost Frontier show is about 20 minutes, it's rather difficult to believe that there's not enough time in the day for that.

From the very first post of *this* thread:

So, essentially, he wants to know about other fan films and fan productions currently in production or about to be released.

Lost Frontier is currently prepping it's second "season" of shows, to be released soon.

I don't understand why, after being informed of this, no mention has been included.

This doesn't even begin to include how Star Trek: The Section 31 Files has been likewise largely ignored.

If, as I am assuming we are supposed to believe, Captain Randy Hall is to be the go-to source for fan-film reviews, it strikes me as rather short-sighted to be so dismissive of two of the (arguably) highest quality audio productions in the fan-film world.

So, Just add it to this thread yourself! I have stepped into things which I never intended to. You don't never know where bodies are buried.

I cheerfully suggested a few weeks ago that new productions might send preview copies to Randy to encourage him to do reviews of them. I did not know he and Farragut had some kind of history. I found myself in the middle of a firefight.

I love Farragut, and I wish they would put out more live action shows. But I also enjoy a good review. And I understand that reviews talk about what is good about a film, and what is not so good. Randy's format does that expressly, since it take the form of "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly." This makes for an entertaining review. But he also has to say something bad.

Mine is more topical, but in many ways less flexible. I have specific subjects on which the film can score between 0 and 1, --1. writing, 2. directing, 3. acting, 4. editing, 5. CGI, costuming, sets, and special effects, 6. entertainment value, 7. whether it makes a point of some kind, and 8. whether it requires more suspension of disbelief than Trek generally. with a maximum raw score of 8, but that can be adjusted up or down by certain factors. Mixing in other franchises, poor quality of sound and film, can lower the score, and just spectacular results in some areas, worthy or more than the 1 point maximum, can raise it. This raw score is then translated into a score of 1 to 5, so I wind up giving some films I liked a lot lower scores than films I enjoyed less, because objectively, I can't ignore stuff that doesn't really matter to me, but matters to others... like spectacular CGI (I don't care) and I can't cut as many points as I might like for too much suspension of disbelief. Anyway, I think Randy's reviews are a lot more amusing to read than mine are, and I think he probably has many more readers than I do. That means, for the less well known productions, his reviews are more important than mine are.

So, just post in this thread when a new episode of your favorite audio production is coming out, and help others find it, whatever Randy and I do. Maybe Randy will give it a listen if you just keep at it, and it will eventually get the benefit of a review, too.

I see what you are saying.

However, I've mentioned Lost Frontier twice. I've linked to it for him. It is simply a matter of him listening to one episode.

Barring even that, he can't be arsed to include it in his listing of "Upcoming Productions with No Release Date" section, which I find rather bizarre as I've informed him --here, publicly-- that the show is still in production but will be having episodes release soon.

Pretty sure I've done that.

Just list it yourself under his lists and don't worry about it. :) If you list it yourself, people who look at this thread for new stuff will still come.

Nah. One flame war is plenty for this thread.

Did I promise to listen to more audio projects, including the ones you mentioned, Double? Yep. Have I gotten to them yet? Nope. There's this little motto that sometimes life gets in the way of Trek, and that's the entire reason I haven't reviwed them. There's no secret, hidden agenda to try and smear or ignore certain projects. I readily admit that I lean toward the live-action Classic Trek era films I first saw when I got interested in this part of fandom, and a few of those came out recently, and I'm trying to be more of a reporter and less of a historian. Can I promise that I'll cover XYZ fan film in two weeks? Not unless I have the project in hand and can listen (or watch, if it's in animation) as many times as I need until then.

Things show up unexpectedly and drop off the radar in a heartbeat sometimes. I guess it all boils down to the fact that I'm a better reporter than psychic. I do the best I can, and we take it from there.

In a little while, I'll start a thread called "Upcoming Productions for June/July/August" (and no, I didn't plan it so I'd have the three months of summer; just one of those lucky coincidences) and I'll do my best to be more attentive to audio projects as they come along. You can always send me an email before the list is posted on Friday, and I'll at least put in an item on the post.

So would anyone have a problem with me putting the "Mature Content" entries in a separate section at the bottom of the list? The only other alternative I can think of is to do a whole 'nuther thread for that, and I'd like to be as comprehensive as I can without getting emails that require asbestos goggles to read.

Of course, Double, if you wanted to start your own thread for Mature Content material, that would sound good to me. I'm not familiiar enough to do a good job on that, and yes, I admit that writing reviews on things I don't know would be tough.

One last thing: Which Frontier am I looking for again? Dark Frontier, New Frontier, Hidden Frontier or some other Frontier? Just to be safe, you understand.
