http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/intro.xml I think it's pretty cool, but, despite the action, it's notably subdued compared to the cinematic for Burning Crusade or for the original World of Warcraft: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/movies.html there's no Orcs with huge swords roaring as they splatter the camera with blood. there's no Humans flinging fireballs at massive lurching demons. there's no Undead annoyed with their surroundings, no Blood Elves not paying attention to the warrior they're healing, and there's still no Gnomes. it's just the Lich King, simply awakening, noting their surroundings, and beginning. this game is going to kick ass.
Not really imo. I quit the game because the end content just started to be more of the same. Although I did like the fact that they made the end content more accessible for non-Hardcore Raiders. The expansion really looks to be more of the same. One new class isn't enough to make me fork over 50 bucks and spend endless hours leveling up.
I'm a recovering WoW addict, it's been 4 1/2 months since I last logged in. But I will be honest, I miss paladin tanking so much it's scary. I'm pissed I never got to tank Illidan, but I was on a small server and my guild was lazy. I miss making warrior tanks cry. I miss tanking Prince like the bitch he was. I'm weak More to add: I miss tanking Heroic Shattered Halls in 20 minutes, I used to have to bring warrior tanks in there so they could get the champ title because Warriors can't tank that place, I had to escort them, muahahahaha
Phenomenal stuff from Blizzard as always, although their continued discrimination against Gnomes is disappointing. I sense much bigotry within Blizzard's halls. Is the dragon in the trailer Malygos or a generic Frost Wyrm? I assumed the former given how prominently the war between Malygos and mortal Magi is said to feature in WOTLK, but have heard otherwise. Apparently Blizzard's cinematics department is larger than the Starcraft II and Diablo III development teams put together, it shows.
That's being fixed in WOTLK. Seal of Blood (H) gains equivalent Seal of the Martyr (A). Seal of Vengeance (A) gains equivalent Seal of Corruption (H). Blizzard seems to be doing a major rewrite of the Paladin class in WOTLK. Seals, Judgements, Blessings, Auras... all changing. I don't understand half of it, mostly because I'm not interested as I no longer play the game.
The way the mechanics of the 2 seals were worked, SoV was a good tanking seal in theory, but if you got dodged, parried, or blocked, it didn't apply and the whole stack could go to waste causing a big aggro issue. In the beginning SoB was only good for ret and bad to tank with because you hurt yourself to do damage, but as a pally tank, once you outgeared the boss, I would use blood to make sure I took enough damage to get heals = more mana. Damnit, I quit playing too, I shouldn't be thinking about this stuff
Its ok but i'd like to see more about the actual game and world you'd be playing in. WoW lore isn't really all that great, its just mildly interesting. Maybe a montage of all the dungeon bosses, or a visual storytelling of the death knight story, seeing battles in the actual zones you'd be playing in.
The zones and stuff were shown in the gameplay trailer released months ago, this is just the famous cinematic scene Blizzard is known for.
There's an in-engine cinematic for that upon character creation: You stood boldly against the shadow, and purchased another dawn for the world - with your life. But the evil you fought is not so easily banished; the victory you claimed not so easily held.... Warcraft lore. Sorry.
I know, right? no female dwarves either, but then again, we do tend to be hidden, so we might be in there somewhere. at first, with all that blue, I thought it might be Malygos awakening, but as soon as I saw that it's skeletal I decided it is clearly a Frost Wyrm. big one, though! see the WotLK trailer under the second link, it has all that. personally, I love the lore in Warcraft. I still feel bad about poor Illidan, although I think he'll be back and redeemed with the eventual Emerald Dream expansion.
Apparently her name is Sindragosa, and the in-game location of the cinematic is Sindragosa's Fall in Icecrown.
Yes, Illidan is my favorite dude in Warcraft lore. a well developed "bad guy" who started out with good intentions. I like him more and more the less he's a night elf too. Prancing Panzies. For the Horde!
I don't play WoW anymore, but I always look forward to their cinematics! The Warhammer one from the other day is also pretty good, done by Blur. Or is it too heretical to mention WAR in a WoW thread?
Works for me. I'm vaguely interested in WAR myself, particularly the Dark Elf Sorceress, although I wasn't overly impressed by the recent cinematic. I loved the following from Mythic's Paul Barnett: "So there's this game, "WoW" I believe it's called, and I believe it was incredibly popular. What you've got to understand is that they changed things, like when The Beatles turned up in music. You can't be The Beatles. They sell more units, they did stadiums, they did everything. How are you going to take them on? Well, there's a trick. If you try to be like The Beatles, you"ll end up like The Monkees. We don't want to be The Monkees. So we decided to be the next-generational band. We"re Led Zeppelin: the cooler, heavier rocking one. Less members, but we've got an aeroplane."
