OmahaStar's thread was about a Wii sonic screwdriver, with no links or pictures. Is this the same item?
Wii Remote shaped like a Sonic Screwdriver, yea, sounds like the same thing. Though, you do make a good point, Omaha's thread was mostly about verifying if they were region locked, where this one has a link to the actual Product and stuff.
No they are not the same. The wiimote came out about 6 months to a year ago. The tv remotes have just come out, they are a bit pricey though. Wiimote The tv remote is about ten times the cost of the wiimote.
Yep. The Wii-mote thingy is for the Wii only. This universal remote is for tv, dvd player, Tardis, etc. Not the same thing. Also ... 120 bucks US for a remote? Ouch. And 7 pounds for the Wii-mote? Score!
If it is a true universal remote that could work anything electronic you pointed it at it would be worth it, and way too fun.
For what it's worth, I have a Logitech Harmony 880. You program it with your specific devices, decide what turns on & in what order. It retails (or did) for around $200, but the physical quality of Logitech stuff is packing, so maybe not worth the money. Depending on who manufactures this new remote, you're probably paying for the coolness factor.
I won a universal remote made to look like a ray-gun in a raffle a while back. Have to confess that I haven't ever opened it, let alone tried it.
My friends had the original wand as a gift when it first came out but didn't use it much. I imagine its good if you have lots of remote gadgets but for use with the tv only its slow.
I have a remote for the Cable Box (Adjusts the volume of cable output and channel I am watching) a remote for the TV that adjusts the output volume on the TV, and adjusts the picture output format, and another Remote for my VCR/DVD, I actually like it that way, Since I do alot of recording off TV. People try programming my cable box remote to do everything, and I don't like it
