Haha. Of course. But is it an actual surplus vehicle they used for filming, or did they custom build it? Or maybe it's just the back end and there is no front. "Hey, Jon, remember that little movie you made a few years ago? Good, there is the rear end of a vehicle in one of the scenes. Do you remember what vehicle that is?" Eh that might be a bit long for a tweet.
You can also see it during the final pullback at the end of the film. I always notice it because the different elements that make up that effects shot drift out of alignment just a little bit.
Thanks for those other screen caps. I think it's clear that as is it's not a real world military vehicle. At least not any I'm familiar with. It just looks like a kit bash. I think the vehicle Maurice posted is the same thing. A few elements look different, but a lot looks the same. I'll have to rewatch the film and be on the look out for the "Jeep Thing."
So, what's the verdict? something specially built as a prop for FC, or some stock 'war vehicle' lying around at Paramount, from another film, that sort of looked the part? Personally, I'd guess the latter, unless someone knows more history of the behind the scenes work in FC.
i would say it's both. There are parts that definitely look like a real vehicle. I think they probably kitbashed something together. But it would take some time to figure out what exactly.
