Wittek is atrocious. What an awful performance, especially after having nearly three weeks to prepare for this opponent. I feel bad for the seniors who have to go out like that. USC has the #1 high school quarterback in the nation committed for next year. Thank God for that. Glad this season is finally over.
Being from College Station, this was really an exciting season for us. Our best season in 14 years, we freaking beat Bama(most excited I've gotten over a football game in ages), and Manziel brings home the Heisman. Looking forward to a great game with Oklahoma this Friday.
Hell of a final few minutes. LSU's play calling/clock management on their final drive made no sense whatsoever. And that 4th and 16 was a miracle. I go to a couple of conferences in Clemson every year as part of a professional group I'm involved with. It's not affiliated with the school, but we stay at a hotel on campus while there. I really wish I was there this week for one. I could get myself into all sorts of trouble tonight...
The South Carolina/Michigan game was a lot of fun. I've never seen a ref botch a measurement call before. I thought the Ol' Ball Coach was going to have stroke. Instant karma struck on the next play when Michigan fumbled it. Then the Gamecocks pull it out with 11 seconds to go. Good game.
So, has anyone else ever seen a "one point safety" before? I've been following college football since I was 8 years old, and I have never even heard of that. Ducks are kicking ass. Go Pac 12!
I'd never actually seen one, but I knew it existed. Brad Nessler (interestingly enough) was the PxP announcer the last time it happened, as he mentioned on tonight's broadcast. I think its only happened like 4 times in the history of college football. Ron Cherry, the official tonight, is also the referee responsible for this famous call: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D8aAC4jrPM[/yt]
This Ron Cherry guy might be my favorite official in College Football. It seems like whenever he is reffing, the entire rulebook has to be used, with the unusual calls and all. He actually did a decent job explaining both the 1-point safety (Loved the "Unusual ruling" bit) and what that clip showed. Too funny.
