I decided I wanted to run around with a science vessel, and so I purchased an Intrepid class long range ship. Now, I have 0 points put toward Science class. They're all in Cruiser and Escort, but I wanted to give it a shot and holy schnikes, these ships are awesome! Even without skills in Science, and using only the defaults that came with the ship, I managed to destroy things that gave my Galaxy class cruiser pause!

Of course, I needed a little more power, but I was fortunate enough for some TBBS buddies to help me get that taken care of. :D

The game looks interesting, but I'm not sure if it's worth joining. I've got a Mac so I doubt I can run it at the moment, and I generally don't like to spend money on games that require a monthly fee. I'll see.

It's not really worth it, unless they improve it big time.

I suppose that's a matter of opinion. I enjoyed it immensely, and that was in Beta with all the bugs.

I bought the game yesterday, thinking I got 30 days free with my purchase of the game (which is how it SHOULD be) and was utterly dismayed to realize I have to pay for more months in order to get the 30 so called "free" days. My credit cards are all tied up for the next 2 months so I guess I'm out of luck.

Not impressed with ST Online so far, and I haven't even played it yet. lol

Be careful if you do any PvP today (Saturday 3/27/10) as there's a nastyt bug after last night's patch that will de-level you after a PvP match on the 'Cracked Planet' or 'Shantytown' maps (and maybe more).

Devs are aware and working on afix for this (and a way to restore any affected player character) - but PvP is probably not a good option atm.

umm, you DON'T have to pay for 30 days first, you DO have to eneter a pay, ment option though (all pay to play MMOs require this when you start an account - even the 800lbs gorilla of MMOs - World of Warcraft).

You WON'T be charaged until the first 30 days have passed; and you can even inactivate your card info right after you enter it, and you'll still get the 30 days that comes with the box purchase.

If that bothers you, I'd stay away from pay to play MMOs entirely.

Yes, but at the moment my credit card is at it's max, and will be for the next month or two. When I entered my card number, I was not approved.

I wonder if I could use a prepaid Visa or Mastercard to pay for it?

Should be able to as they work in the same way as Credit Cards, you just have to load them first.

Don't you have a bank check card with a visa logo on it? Those work too.

A PayPal account will work, too.
All you need is for it to authorize. You don't have to have any money in the PayPal account.

Finally was able to pick up the copy I had on reserve, so once it's updated to the current version (some time tomorrow right? lol) I'll be in the game. So feel free to add me, I believe you can just add @Kaziarl

Interesting bug. Does this mean STO has implemented de-leveling as some kind of death penalty or plans to do so?
