Okay Trek fans, this game has been successful on the boards for the other shows, and I hope it prospers here as well. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you play again. Not a very accurate way of determining the best episode, but a fun game nonetheless. Pretty simple. Enjoy! Winners Season One - The Andorian Incident Season Two - Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point Precious Cargo The Catwalk Dawn Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar The Crossing Judgement Horizon The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight Bounty The Expanse A Night in Sickbay: Archer goes into a snit when Porthos gets sick after peeing on a treasured tree on the Kretassan homeworld. The captain decides to punish the Kretassans by refusing to buy desperately needed plasma injectors Trip begged him to get. T'Pol's lips and boobs become a distraction. There's a funeral that morphs into a nude T'Pol scene. And later, T'Pol rips Archer a new one for not putting a diaper on his dog.
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point Precious Cargo The Catwalk Dawn Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar The Crossing Judgement Horizon The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Oh dear, too slow off the bat! Good choice anyway. Okay, if I can't have ANiS then I'll go for Bounty instead. Another silly episode. The producers were trying anything for ratings at this point I think!
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Dawn Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar The Crossing Judgement Horizon The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Precious Cargo - utterly pointless and predictable A plot, forced "sexual tension" between Trip and the princess, terrible "acting" by what's-her-name. But OMG, season 2 is full of crappy episodes.
I'm actually watching Season Two through Netflix right now, and it's actually not that bad. Most of the weak episodes in this season are more because they're painfully dull and/or unoriginal than they are actually bad. Except for ANIS, of course. Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar The Crossing Judgement Horizon The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Dawn: Another unoriginal episode. A very dull "Enemy Mine" ripoff.
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar The Crossing Judgement The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Horizon - finally they give poor Travis something to do, and it's dull, predictable and badly acted. Season Two was distinctly average throughout - I can only remember a few episodes I really enjoyed. It wasn't full of stinkers or anything but the show was crying out for a shakeup by the end of the year.
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Marauders The Seventh The Communicator Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse The Crossing: Getting possessed by non-corporeal aliens has never been so painful to watch. Their ship is impressive and being inside the belly of that beast, in EV suits, has a Motion Picture vibe to it. While Trip is taken over, he gets to live out an unseen fantasy. He comes back telling us he'd been with some old Western movie star, nobody watching will have even heard of. Naturally Reed's occupant is horny for T'Pol simply because this is on UPN. Watch Observer Effect instead and you'll see how this one should've been done. That at least, is genuinely creepy.
Marauders. It was done so much better as The Seven Samarai. Or The Magnificent Seven. Or A Bug's Life. We all know that the Klingons came back and nuked that colony from space the minute Enterprise left. It is one of the few episodes I hate, and the only one I can't watch any part of, ever. Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop The Seventh Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Stigma Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse The Communicator: We can't do anything to risk damaging this culture. So when they figure out we're not who we say we are, instead of telling them the truth, let's tell the already-paranoid military that we're enemy super-soldiers armed with highly advanced weaponry! Because that won't backfire!
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop The Seventh Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Cogenitor Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Stigma - in an episode that's an allegory about a woman getting AIDS from being raped, let's have a comedy B-plot about how a woman forces herself on a man who is clearly made uncomfortable by her advances.
Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop The Seventh Singularity Vanishing Point The Catwalk Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Cogenitor - Trip was out of character and Archer was wrong in the way he handled him at the end.
Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop The Seventh Vanishing Point The Catwalk Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse And Singularity is gone. I absolutely hate those episodes where everyone acts completely differently. You don't get to see what the characters are really like, it's just an excuse to have everyone act crazy for forty minutes and then there's a big "Oh, it's all right now" at the end. I hate Dramatis Personae for the same reason.
Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Vanishing Point The Catwalk Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgement The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse The Seventh: Deadly boring. Bruce Davison is a great actor and he was dull as a plastic spoon, probably because the script sucked. And T'Pol needs Archer to give her permission to SHOOT the bio-weapons dealer using a STUN setting? Really? BTW: Why is Vanishing Point still alive?
Vulcans are about as strong as Klingons are, and a disciplined fighter will beat an enraged brute just about every time. Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Vanishing Point Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgment The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse The Catwalk: Another 'meh' episode with a yawn-worthy Space Anomaly of the Week. Also because I know "Vanishing Point" won't last much longer and I must defend my beloved Hoshi!
Aw. I loved that one. Exaggerating personalities and revealing what they might get obsessed about, tells you quite a lot. Without any cliffhangers to resolve, I'd probably be tempted to open a season with that. T'Pol snapping Archer out of it, sticking him in shower... very old school Star Trek. Only lacked him being smacked about a bit. Making him pilot the ship. Liked all that. Great FX of planetary fragments, asteroids, breaking up. Getting an answer to why the Captain never looks comfortable in his chair. Trip fixes it and he's still not happy! He'll just have to wait until he gets that throne in a couple of season's time. Not for everyone and if you're up & down on whether to like characters or not, I guess it's a turn off.
Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Cease Fire Future Tense Canamar Judgment The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Vanishing Point: By unpopular demand. Having it all be a dream was a cop out of the worst kind. Transporter technology is new. You want characters to really be suffering from a psychosis. For crew members not to be comfortable with it. Consequences that carry on to other episodes and show that Dr. McCoy's curmudgeonly concerns a century later, really were warranted at one point in its development. Everytime they step onto the pad, they do it because there's no other option that would work. That's the feeling I wanted from Enterprise. Sometimes you got that. Sometimes they treated it like every other Star Trek show. I think the excuse they made was it made the cast look paranoid, once it had been shown to work properly. But technology can still be unpredictable. Even here in the early 21st Century, my broadband connection could just cut out right in the middle of
Shockwave (II) Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Cease Fire Canamar Judgment The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse Future Tense - more Temporal Cold War storylines that go nowhere and are best ignored. Edit to add - It appears that Shockwave (II) was deleted from the list accidentally after my last post. I'm putting it back in.
Carbon Creek Minefield Dead Stop Cease Fire Canamar Judgment The Breach Regeneration First Flight The Expanse I'll take out Shockwave Part 2 then. It's a poor followup to the more interesting first part. And of course the Temporal Cold War episodes lack any sort of resonance knowing that it ultimately went nowhere.
