I want Idris Elba so I never ever have to hear someone suggest him ever again. Hopefully he'll be typecast as well and never gets a prominent role in anything ever again.
You know, it's been awhile since we had someone with the last name of Baker in the role of the Doctor. Are there any 30-ish male actors out there right now from a Baker family?
I've already mentioned Lucy Liemann in the other thread. If it is going to be a woman, I'd like it to be her. So is Ardal O'Hanlon. Maybe he might be cast as the next Doctor.
I'm hoping for anything other than another white Englishman as the Doctor. I'd be thrilled if we had a Scots Doctor, or a Welsh or Irish Doctor, or a black Doctor, or South Asian Doctor.
Not that I needed convincing (obviously) but damn that makes me want Alexander Siddig in the role more than ever. More so than Eddie Izzard!
We had a Scottish doctor just a few years ago What I want, first and foremost, is the best person for the job, and if that’s a 35 year old white English guy so be it, and if it’s a 45 year old South Asian Englishwoman, so be it, and if it’s a 50 year old black Welshman so be it. I’m less interested in their skin colour, age, accent or gender than their ability to play the Doctor. Everyone knows I championed Paterson Joseph for a long time, but I didn’t champion him cos he was black, I championed him because I thought he’d make a great Doctor. I don't really get the Mark Srong thing, plus he's in so much stuff he's at risk of just being the generic go-too gruff Brit.
Strong would be a fantastic Master, not sure about the Doctor though. He just so good at playing up that air of evil and malice. Give him a goatee and a long black coat and just let him chew the scenery a bit.
Putting aside what I'd actually be interested in seeing in favour of what will actually happen it'll be a white, British Male, late 20's to late 40's. It will not be someone very well known (which knocks out most of the suggestions people make). Rather it will be someone early in the career with strong but as yet unfulfilled potential or someone who has been around for a long time, had some aclaim for their work but never really hit the Big Time. (AKA Ben Daniels.) And just as aside (and not aimed at this forum byt the internet in general) if I read one more person going "I'm not racist/sexist but there shouldn't be a non-white/female Doctor because there hasn't been in the past* or because the Daily Mail/BNP would get worked up about it**" I may go on a murderous rampage. (Or just Tut-Tut louldly to myself.) *Where would the World be if we only did things that had been done in the past? ** How is this a bad thing?
Not sure what to make of this Tweet. Not sure why people working for Russell Howard's Good News would have seen the new Doctor and, if they did, why they would be tweeting about it. Could be legit, could be an attempt to drum up some free publicity.
Given the format of the show I’m guessing it’s just that Russ will do a sketch where the Doctor regenerates into someone/thing comedic like a Dalek.
A bit like screen wipe Russell humorously reviews the week’s news, and does the occasional news inspired sketch, so I’d be amazed if that wasn’t what this was referring too.
Steve Hogarth.... Yes, I know he's busy fronting Marillion, but I really could see him in the role... Don't know if he's ever acted much in a serious capacity, but he certainly has the personality to fit the role. He's in his 50's but has an amazingly young heart and soul...
Travis Richey should be the next Doctor, and if you don't know who I'm talking about, then youtube 'Inspector Spacetime' .
