Well, the movie footage in the stupid "Honest Trailer" thing did make me want to watch STID again.

Ooo, hadn't seen that one a few dozen times before, either.

ProTip: check the date on the formula checklist YouTube satire clip before posting it as containing new "revealed truths".

Not only not new, but not funny, either.

I'm sure the OP only started this thread in good humour - and had absolutely no intention of deliberately antagonising fans of JJ's movies by posting an old video link in the "XI+" forum with a mock apology.

No. Not really. At best, mildly (and intermittently) amusing.

The 'How it should have ended' stuff is hit-and-miss for me. What they show is that, almost without exception, summer films don't have much in the way of narrative sense if you take the time to nitpick the details.

I'll agree. But the sad part is you really can't argue with their points. Many could have easily been eliminated with some better writing.

The movie was fun to watch. So, the writing was fine.

At the end of the day, that's all I want out of any Trek production or tie-in product: enjoyment, fun.

Sure it's a laugh to nit-pick and take a piss on any or all of it from time to time--if you can't laugh at yourself, you'll go mad, IMO. But if it's not enjoyable in the first place, if the only reason to watch it is to bash it over and over, and rant on about how much you dislike it or are disappointed in it, then why bother to watch it in the first place?

I thought the How it Should Have Ended for ST09 one was the best, but the one for STID was pretty good.

In my opinion, everything here is opinion. It's just how many opinions agree and disagree to form an overall set of opinions that can lead to a group impression, or opinion.

(At least, that's just my opinion. Other opinions may vary.)

You're just so darned opinionated. :D

Kidding aside. I agree with you. Everything that's being said, for good or ill about any Star Trek movie (I-XII), or any series is strictly opinion. Opinions are not facts.

Problem is, some folks still haven't learned the difference yet. :)

I found that "honest trailer" funny.
I also just re-watched into darkness last night and I like it better than my original post theater feeling so my liking the honest trailer isn't due to any hatred of the movie
