Did anyone really want to see a 65 year old Indiana Jones?

Apparently not, if you listen to complaints about Crystal Skull ;)

At some point in Episode VIII he should say "I'm getting too old for this shit."

Only if he's teamed with a younger, slightly nuts Wookie as a partner.

But then, if you look at the world wide box office... apparently so...

For what it's worth, Indy has always been ten years younger than Ford's current age.

Still, if Ford is indeed saying "I'm too old to do this" to a lot of roles, what made him agree to return to an action hero he played in his younger days? I mean aside from the huge paycheck?

He really likes the character, and they dealt with aging in it. Perhaps in the roles he's turned down they didn't.

^ Also, more than just pay, I think Crystal Skull was in large part a jolly group vacation between old friends. Plus the sets, costumes, location shoots and all the other trappings are probably especially fun. Arguably more so than green-screen heavy, studio-bound sci-fi shoots, depending on one's personality...

And I thought Ford wouldn't be caught dead within 50 feet of Star Wars again.

It can't be that he needs the money.

Perhaps he's interested because outside of being a consultant, Lucas really has nothing to do with these films.

Well, either way, I'll wait til I'm sitting in the theater actually seeing the film to get the full story.

Ford's attitude towards Star Wars has kind of mellowed in recent years, you can tell that from the Chewbacca thing he did when he was on Jimmy Fallon a couple years ago when Cowboys and Aliens was out. Still, I would be very surprised if he were in another Star Wars movie, and it surpirsed the hell out of me when he said he was open to it depending on the script and director.

I don't know, stranger things have happened, but I still think BBC will have an easier time convicning Christopher Eccleston to appear in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary than Disney or Abrams will have getting Ford into Episode 7.

I not only think that he is, but along with Hamill and Fisher, probably is already signed on and under a non-disclosure contract.

If you think about it, the script is already in progress and the writer has to know by now if he's writing for Luke, Han and Leia, or moving the story in a different direction.

And since nobody has come forward to outright deny any involvement so far, I'm inclined to believe all three are probably onboard and by definition, okay with JJ.

Whether or not he needs the money could depend on his spending habits and divorce settlements.
