As I've explained in a recent interview, the crews and ships start out on different narrative lines, and those narrative paths converge as the trilogy progresses.

For most of book one, each crew faces its own adventure. Two of the three crews will link up by the end of book one, and by the end of book two/start of book three, all three principal crews will be in the same place, working together. And all of the various storylines, in the 22nd, 24th, and other centuries all mesh narratively by the time the trilogy reaches its conclusion.

It's not strictly necessary, though some of the continuity references will feel more familiar if you do. You should be just fine if you simply want to jump into the trilogy.

Sorry, I though you were goofing with me, and so I was responding in kind, since we already had this exchange not long ago:

Now that we're getting close to D-day, I'm checking the bookstore everyday to see if Gods of Night has come in yet...

It hasn't, as of today. I know there's a lot of wiggle room as to when exactly the books show up... I sure hope it's closer to today than the end of the month.

I'm looking forward to a whole lot about this new book...

I think what I'm anticipating the most though, is more of Choudhoury, and her perspective towards being a security/tactical officer - Especially in a book that's going to contain such balls to the walls warfare and action. What little we've seen of her character so far has really captivated me.

We all have that. I for one am studying for an exam in finance as I'm writing this response.

At most of the book stores I frequent in the NYC/New Jersey area, the Trek books never seem to come out any sooner than the "scheduled" pub date, so I've given up looking. Instead, I'm catching up on some non-Trek reading between now and September 30. The tough part about that is that Neil Gaiman's new book also comes out on the 30th, and I'm really going to want to read that as soon as I get it....

REALLY hoping to get lucky and find a copy today. Going to Germany tomorrow, and it'll be a LONG flight, so having something to help kill the time would be great!

I haven't started looking yet. I checked out Memory Alpha an hour ago and nothing about it being out yet. Usually they have it saying out, like the week before but sometimes I don't see it at one of my local bookstores yet. I did see the Alt Universe DVD through. Might bye that, so I can get the Geordi figure as a captain, if that is the one.

This is possibly a really stupid question, but please don't phaser me down for asking!

Anyway, being a Brit, where would be the best place to order Destiny if I don't want to wait such a long time after they've been published over that great big pond!

^ Amazon.co.uk Marketplace. There's a few very good sites, such as The Book Depository, and you simply shop as normal on Amazon only through the 'Buy used and new' link on the item listings page.

Cheers to the both of you, I'll have a look on Amazon first as the nearest FP to me is in Bristol and although I really am wanting these books, multiple trips there isn't very appealing :vulcan:

Everyone be sure to check at your local Borders. My local Borders Express no longer carries the Star Trek novels, but I had a voicemail on my phone that my special ordered copy has arrived. The drawback is I'm across the state from home tonight and won't be back until next week. :(
