Starship down is good, mostly because of Worf's part in it. Kira's pumpkin story didn't do much for me. It was meant to keep sisko from passing out. It's a miracle that it didn't put him in a coma...

The name of the song they sing is Frere Jaques. Which translates into English as "Brother John."

Did they somehow think that a British accent sounded more like French than an American accent?

    lol

Apparently, the quickest way to get Riker out of his comfort zone is to put him with a clone of himself. Actually, the best way to get to Geordi is to have some other tech wizard who disagrees with him. (Which they could've done with Bev in that segment) Crusher's weak spot is having to do ethically questionable things, especially doc related

Data doesn't feel discomfort. Taking his head off is about as close as it gets. There's been evidence of this on more than one occasion, I'm sorry to say. Riker was a bit out of his comfort zone, because he actually had to do something technical for a change

That would've made a much better plot for Geordi & Bev. They disagree on the course of action for their random crisis. Geordi figures out (Having been a command officer at one time) that the only way to save the ship is to expose himself to dangerous radiation or some other effect that could kill him, & Crusher isn't willing to let him do it at first because she has no sickbay access to treat him afterwards. In the end, Crusher of all people comes up with a better solution maybe

They could have tried... Wesley is in danger and Beverly must choose between saving him or the entire bridge crew... She's about to decide when some deus ex machina saves her from going through with it!

Come to think of it... Where IS Wesley in this episode?

Edit: Oops, just remembered, he's gone already

They were going to bring him back for this ep, hence justifying the title.

Wesley was originally meant to play the role of the children in the turbolift, and at the end he would give picard his own crudely made plaque.

You are correct, my mistake. I meant that the English *version* of the song is usually translated to Brother John, not that that is the literal translation of the title.

It's pretty painful to hear a supposed Frenchman pronounce that song like a gringo. He pronounces the actual name OK, but then he says "door may voo".

I'm really sorry about arguing. I just really like that song. I can't sing to save my life, but for some reason I like to sing that one once in a while. :o

I learned "Dominique" in French class. I can still sing it, and I still don't remember what the words mean.
