I am listening to The Cat, the Quilt and the Corpse by Leann Sweeney, narrated by Vanessa Johannson. It is a cozy mystery but the main character is so cat obsessed that she is annoying to even cat-loving me. I hope she mellows out a bit as the story continues.

My current paperback read is The Poor Mouth: A Bad Story about the Hard Life by Flann O'Brien (Brian O'Nolan). I was reading it while in the doctor's waiting room and I could stop chuckling at the absurdity of the tale.

This morning I finished listening to A Dangerous Thing by Josh Lanyon. It is a murder mystery with a gay protagonist. Narrated by Chris Patton.

Tonight I started listening to Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt, narrated by Amy Rubinate. It is a story set in the 1980s and is about a teenage girl coping after her much loved uncle dies of AIDS.

Just finished The Golem of Hollywood, by Jonathan Kellerman and Jesse Kellerman. Suspense/horror. Fascinating, complicated, creepy.

I don't write many comments in fiction, but I do in non-fiction and textbooks. I also highlight passages that I want to remember.

I've heard nothing but good things about it so it's time to give it a try.

I would be interested to hear your opinion. I have always loved the novel but when listening to it recently I found myself cringing over quite a few of Ish's opinions of people.

Interesting. You don't see a lot of Golem novels. I might pick that up.

Robert Goddard - The Ways of the World.
    Next: CJ Sansom - Lamentations.

Both write adult thrillers with a strong line in plausibility and interesting plot twists. I recomment hem highly Goddard's are set in the 20th Centurty mostly, while Sansom's main series isabout Matthew Shardlake, lawyer in the time of Henry VIII. Damn good stuff.

Sweet. I'll look for that, too.

    Will do. :)

Today, for Halloween, I think I'll be reading Arthur Machen's "The Great God Pan." Last night, I read the introduction to the anthology by Darrell Schweitzer-- this Machen was one messed-up dude, so this should be interesting. I'll probably also delve into my Creepy and Eerie archives.
