Gravity - Review and Discussion Thread

Still wan't to see a cut of the film without any music. Just the sound effects. The music was too loud and too omnipresent, it undermined the effect of "no sound in space".

 

So people should recognize that the story was "solid" but not "substantive" and that they weren't really impressed by the things that impressed them. Got it.

 

Discussions in the special featured linked her climbing out of the lake as being more to an evolutionary experience. First she's water dwelling, has to shed her outer shell (the space suit) she has a deep gasp for air when she first breathes, she crawls out of the water, stumbles to her knees and then stumbles to her feet before standing strong on her own. Part of this goes on as we watch a frog easily manage maneuvering in the water while Ryan struggles during her "evolution."

 

Something I just thought of. When ISS is at the end of its life, and is just about to be de-orbited--maybe seeing it struck from above by a Progress capsule to push debris down might give a very realistic simulation of exactly what would happen in a such a scenario. The debris would be pushed downward, and a trailing Progress could follow the ISS remains down, filming for as long as it could.
