Is Marvel finally bringing back Jean Grey? How much would it suck for Scott/Jean shippers (such as myself) if they bring back Jean only to kill Scott?:lol:

But then Emma and Jean hook up.

    Sexually.

Marvel has wanted to bring Jean back for some time as the article indicated. Looks like we'll find out exactly what this means tomorrow....as a huge Jean fan I've been waiting for this since 2003.

    It's better when she's dead.

It is actually the longest that she's been dead...which has surprised me.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Depends how you count it surely?

After some creative revision Jean died in the shuttle crash before she became the Phoenix, her real body was put into stasis and the Phoenix ran around pretending to be her before she eventually died on the moon... that adds another 2 or three years to the vacuum between her death in ... holy shit. 1980 to 1986? Time used to seem longer. the ERA between the death of the Dark phoenix and X-Factor #1 used to seem immense... Although i was reading that all retroactively from quarter bins.

    76 - 86, fuck the months, that's ten years.

Fake Magneto killed her in 2004, which makes it an 8 year stretch.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I always forget that the coverdates on the comics lie.

But I did look it up.

I'm not sure why they persist with that since they probably have smart enough soft ware these days not to confuse production and shipping dates so that half finished books are not arriving in stores.

Although May 2004 doesn't seem like it should be a book arriving in the hind end of 2003?

Looks like Rich may have been right...

    http://www.newsarama.com/comics/jean-grey-avengers-vs-x-men-return.html

It does appear to be a magazine scan article. Looks like the FF are getting redesigned costumes again, as is Scott.

I hope the Bendis "X-Men" plot thing isn't true. Marvel did that story already last summer with their lame First to Last story arc by Christopher Yost.

^Except, that isn't what Yost did in "First to Last". The story was split between the present day and circa X-Men 10, but at no point did the O5 travel through time to the present.

True...still not really interested in seeing a time travel story though.

There was an Excalibur special/annual 15 years back that had the original X-men fight mostly the classic line up of Excalibur. there was this one bit where Kurt was being all I'm Errol Flynn, when the Beast catches him by the tail... And Nightcrawler bemoans "It doesn't matter if he's covered in blue fur or not there is only one man on Earth that knows how to do that."

Not a great read but the art was fantastic.

    Hickman on Avengers = cool

Remender on Avengers = haven't cared for his work before now but the lineup is interesting

I've liked what I've read so far of Remender on Secret Avengers and Venom, so I'm willing to give Uncanny Avengers a chance. Hickman on Avengers definitely has my interest. Bendis on X-Men... well, if he's only writing one X-book, at least he'll be easy to avoid.

He's also rumored to be writing Uncanny X-Men...but that hasn't been mentioned. I guess we'll find out the rest later today.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

The full details are now out.

Uncanny Avengers by Rick Remender and John Cassaday (so, of course, the book will never be on time) - starts in October, starring Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, and Havoc. First enemy will be the Red Skull, consciousness circa 1943-44.

Avengers by Jonathan Hickman and Jerome Opena - starts in December, featuring 18! characters. First story arc is called "Avengers World." Title will be published twice per month; Hickman plans to mix arcs of five to six issues with single issues highlighting individual characters.

All-New X-Men by Brian Bendis and Stuart Immonen - starts in November, starring the original five X-Men thrust forward in time to the present day Marvel Universe. Bendis says the title will primarily be a character story.

The Marvel NOW! initiative will also feature costume changes, "new character attitudes," and some changed identities. CBR also notes that the Marvel NOW! titles will feature "new 'cinematic' cover designs," plus several digital features. See the links for quotes from the writers and Quesada.

So the focus still seems to be on the three titles that had already been rumored / leaked out, with no details yet on the titles that will follow.

So.... the original five X-Men are going to be permanent characters in the modern world? Weird.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Teen Scott and Teen Jean are not going to be happy that the last four generations of their families have been farmed so that when they finally do it, their kid is going to be the perfect vessel for Apocalypse.

No one likes being used like that.

    Especially not teenagers.

This time around, I think Jean and Warren should hook up.
