My roommate and I realized this morning that we have been friends for 10 years. Of those 10 years, we have lived together for 8 of them, which is a pretty long time for two straight dudes who met in college. To celebrate this "anniversary," I bring you an adorable picture of us sitting on a rock...back when we were still thin and full of hope.
Thanks, Kestra, macloudt, & Pondwater! Those photos were taken right here in New York City at a place called Alley Pond Environmental Center, which is a part of Queens. It's a pretty remarkable place. Not only is it in NYC (and literally set against a highway), it's got a few different habitats, including marsh, woodland and meadows. Over the years, I've gotten quite a number of decent photos there.
My new toy! I've been wanting a digital sewing machine that does proper embroidery as well as a range of decorative stitches, and my local sewing machine shop was having a sale. I'm SO glad I took a course on learning all about our machines, because the instruction manual is 200 pages long (yes, all in English!), and learning to use the machine completely by myself would have freaked the frack out of me. As you can see was having fun trying out the various fancy stitches. My freehand machine stitching needs a wee bit more practice, though.
Impressive. Most, impressive, macloudt! Looks like you're going to have a lot of fun with it. I just hope it doesn't start stitching out messages to you of its own volition! (And thanks cooleddie and Tora Ziyal!)
No, not cool. I think the phrase you're looking for is "scary as hell". Okay, if my machine does gain sentience it's coming after you first. Got it?
And I thought this place was beweft of haberdashery puns. So many purls of wisdom in this close-knit community, it warps the fabric of my mind.
