Seven meeting Kirk is no goofier to me than the crew of the Defiant ending up on the Old E or Janeway sort of meeting Sulu, though that last one doesn't really count since it was in Tuvok's mindmeld.
Since I never met a Greg Cox novel I didn't enjoy and Seven is my favorite Voyager character, I'm looking forward to this. And you must admit that there were not many choices on Voyager. Seven just happened to choose the most boring one possible (at least Harry and Seven have common interests in astronomy and music). Hey, some of us LOVE time travel stories, as long as they're plotted plausibly and science/history doesn't go completely off the rails. Besides, it could have been much, MUCH worse... imagine if Kirk had been subjected to Icheb! There's a rather famous fanfic detailing that, plus many others besides.
Is this one of Kirk's 17 temporal violations? Paging Agent Dulmer! Paging Agent Lucsley! Even if it's not Kirk's fault the DTI will blame him. The man's a menace.
Seven's and Kirk's bastard love child becomes ruler of all the universes after a failed attempt of removing him from the timeline.
