Dang Neelix is jealous... I mean the woman tells him the one time in her life she has a baby, she wants it to be with him and he gets jealous over the prospect of the Doctor rubbing her feet.
You're entirely misreading what Neelix was up to. He wanted to see Kathryn rub his girlfriend's feet.
that was the most unrealistic relationship ever. Personally i thought Harry and Kes would have gone well together
Neelix was actually incapable of rubbing her feet until her tongue swelled and what is the matter of letting a robot doctor do it? I am sticking with the fact that Neelix could never really satisfy Kes's sexual needs. So in 'Darkling' (2/3) through Season 3 Kes falls in love with somebody planetside and she wants to experience with him in paradise. In several more episodes she is gone. Forever.
You were half right and I was half wrong, which means you win. Remember on Buffy when Riley slept with Faith who had taken over Buffy's body? Buffy was all "You had sex with her, how couldn't you know it wasn't me!?" Slide back to PG and Kes could have bee just as hurt that soul mate doesn't really mean like what she always thought it meant, and he couldn't tell the difference between sweet little she and some nazi space####. Neelix should have fought for her at least as hard as Tuvix did. But he punked out like a wimp. Which is not how you write an epic love story.
How is it that Neelix knows so little about the species he is in love with as to not know about the elogium? Wouldn't you, if you were in a committed relationship with an alien species, want to know about their reproduction? Now maybe it is like periods in that the women don't sit around chatting with the men about it and maybe he just never wanted to ask.. but I think it does show that they were not sleeping together at this point in the series. Otherwise they would have had some conversation about reproduction at some point and Neelix wouldn't have been all ".... wha?!" about the whole deal.
The fact that Neelix seems to be oblivious about Ocampan reproduction makes me think he never had sex with her ever.
I never thought he did for other reasons but this just occurred to me as an oddity that can be explained if they were not sleeping together. Also Kes does not seem at all shy about biology, I can't really imagine her refusing to talk about it to him, or changing the subject repeatedly.
Which is why it was Tuvok's sex drive that forced Kes to trick Janeway into killing Tuvix, to gooseguard her flower's cherry.
Kes is an adult for her species, I don't find the relationship creepy. However, the thing about the Elogium happening once in your life, that implies that Ocampa do not feel sexual desire at any other point in their life. Which has certain other creepy implications about the power relationship between the two.
They had separate rooms. It's an easy argument to suggest that they had a nonsexual relationship, despite all the kissing.
Neelix was like a prepubescent human male before his first date, pretending to be worldly about his areas of known space, but basically full of shit. A child in an adult's body. Kes seemed the more psychologically mature of the two.
Yes, maybe she was as mature as him when they first met.. but not really. When the first met she was just super naive and believed all his bluffy ego stuffs.
You do understand that that's what game is? Men can only trick women into thinking they're not crude sex obsessed perverts planning their next fart who are less smart than they are. So there's only two legal ways for a (straight) man not to die a virgin, woo morons, or acquire enough wealth/stuff that your built in and inescapable flaws don't seem so repellent.
But who ended up with a family and a likely high position in a colony, while the other turned batshit insane and alone?
