Add these to my list of unpopular opinions. I feel the same way.

Every popular TOS episode is cheesy and boring. "City" meh. "Amok Time" bleh. FTWIHAIHTTS, Deadly Years and hell, even Plato's Stepchildren are better.

Fair enough. But Jeri Ryan's rack wasn't too shabby either.

^ Oh, Ryan's boobs are definitely BIG. The only issue with real boobs that size is how to fight gravity and keep them up.

Ah, but Ryan is not a young girl, and her breasts do not need to fight gravity to an abnormal extent. Her nipples don't need to point to the stars for her breasts to be beautiful. Too many women do unnatural and, in my opinion, unattractive things to their bodies in an effort to look younger.

Tell that to the TPTB of VOY, they thought she needed corsets and padding to "enhance" her figure, as if it's not great already.

Yes, I've read a transcript of an online Q&A with Ron Moore at the time when he was on DS9. Someone accused TPTB of sexism for padding women's costumes, and he said that they were padding everyone's costumes on TNG and DS9, male and female (I believe he said something like "Do you think Worf's shoulders are really that big? Do you think that Dukat's chest is really the size of an oil tank?"). He also argued that the material that the costumes are made of is very crude and, according to him, you can't get it to look body-fitting and attractive without padding.

:techman: Damn right! I thought I was the only Star Trek fan in the world that hated that lame overrated atrocity of an episode (except the ending). I am shocked and dismayed by your positive attitude towards "Plato's Stepchildren", though.

Also, Jeri Ryan is gross. I don't like her face or body. By far the least attractive Star Trek 'babe'. Jadzia, Crusher, Vash, Leeta, post season 4 Kira, and Ezri all the way! :p

Jeri Ryan gross? Dude, that hurt. It's going to leave a mark. I'm closing my eyes and putting my fingers in my ears. La la la la la la la la la.

AFAIK, all Cardassian uniforms were similarly 'padded'. Not just Dukat's. It was obvious - to me, at least - that the standard Cardassian uniform was intentionally made to look big. Not necessarily to show off the actor inside, but to be ostentatious and elaborate.

Cardassian uniforms seemed designed to make them look stronger and more powerful, emphasizing broad shoulders and chest. Maybe it's also because their necks are made to look thick and strong, the rest of the upper body has to look big and strong to give them a more proportional look, as well as giving them a more threatening look.

I'm guessing that the some of the same reasons were behind using costumes, 'enhancements' and makeup to make Klingons and other warrior races look bigger, stronger and scarier.

It would be fun to see, for once, a warrior race that is more similar in size and build to a Ferengi. ;)

Here's one: I rather enjoyed "A Night in Sickbay"... Sometimes I think people (both the fans and the producers) tend to take Star Trek a bit too seriously, so it's always nice to have a light-hearted or silly episode to break the Serious Business.

I dislike all of The Original Series, including it's characters. And yes, that includes Star Trek's beloved Spock.
And by dislike, I mean REALLY dislike.

As far as I can tell that's a rather unpopular opinion.

True. But not really relevant. OK, so the real life Jeri Ryan may not have quite the assets of the fictional Seven of Nine, but I very much doubt she could do complicated astrometrics in her head either. There's a difference between character and actress, and the original quote was referring to the character.

^Actually, it's what killed the character.

Well, that and she was annoying and stupid.
