Well then he'd make a disjointed comedy that turns into a horror movie that turns into a romance. Which is... weirdly appropriate for Doctor Who, now that I think about it...
I see we understand each other. That said, i enjoyed Frightners despite some flaws. It was a refreshingly different movie.
I wonder, if the Tardis is a time machine, why did they have an episode with Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, the Tardis could have just as easily gone back in time and met dinosaurs in their natural setting and Peter Jackson could have directed it, he did the King Kong remake after all.
The doctor, a sontaran,a Silurian a couple daleks and Rorys dad. They all gather to return an important relic to Galifrey. Episode will consist of wide shots of the gang traversing through the new Zealand mountain ranges -one episode spanning 4 seasons -extended episode blu ray -18 hour behind the scenes segment on craft services -How to build a Galifrey inspired house
That's a phenomenon that I call "Spielberging". See "Jurassic Park II: The Lost World", "A.I. Artificial Intellgience", and "War of the Worlds" to see what I mean. Each of those films needed to be at least half an hour shorter.
Never mind directing, make him the next showrunner! Well, it would be the next-best thing to PJ and his posse doing a Who movie trilogy.
How's this for an outside bet - find the extra money to let Jackson direct a feature length 50th anniversary special, which can be released in cinemas in some territories (like the UNCLE movies of the 60s, and the opening episodes of the 70s Buck Rogers and Galactica).
Realistically speaking unless whoever shows it in NZ chips in to cover some of the costs it's not going to happen. But... Peter Jackson does own one of Sylvester McCoy's old costumes so he could just make a DW Fan Film instead!
Yeah the cost is really going to be prohibitive. Dubai was costly enough. Spain/Croatia is one thing, not that far away for starters, but to take the entire production crew to New Zealand? Then again I guess they managed New York.
^Fair points. I think the only way to do it would be, as some have suggested, to do a two parter that gets some kind of theatrical release. But then that poses its own problems!
