link He was so good in the role that i thought he'd be irreplaceable in the new films. Of course, Caine is fantastic in the role, and played a different kind of Alfred, but for a long time, this guy really personified the character.
Yes, he was great in that role, as you say, a totally different take than Caine but no less watchable. He also had a diverse and impressive pre-Batman career, from Hammer Horror movies, to UK tv to the likes of Top Secret. RIP, a long and distinguished life and career.
Sad to hear it. Among other roles, he also played Arthur Holmwood in THE HORROR OF DRACULA with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. And had a memorable cameo (as a corpse!) in THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE. We'll just forget about KONGA . . ..
But let's not forget his roles on Doctor Who: The Celestial Toymaker and Hedin in The Celestial Toymaker and The Arc of Infinity, respectively. Rest in peace, Michael.
