I know the theme is music in film, but doing Chicago and Dreamgirls is neither recent enough to be timely or long enough ago to be nostalgic. It just seems out of place next to Les Miserables. They should have just done more from LM, since it was a great performance.
Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen got drowned out, Russel Crowe still can't sing, yet somehow this version of One Day More was still better than what they actually put in the movie.
I understand why they did it. They wanted a big cast song, which is One Day More, but Hathaway's character is not in it. They altered the lyrics a bit and fit her into it. The melody didn't change at all, since the beginning of the song is essentially I Dreamed a Dream.
Haha! Me too. But then the other part of me thought that I really love hearing the TMP/TNG theme, so I don't mind.
I always worry when they do live cgi stuff. What if something goes wrong? Then the presenter ends up looking silly.
