Dusty Baker says he wants to manage again.

Somewhere, Mark Prior's elbow just twitched uncontrollably, and he doesn't know why.

I was at the Clubhouse store yesterday and the entire clearance rack was all BJ Upton stuff deeply discounted. For a minute I thought they had got rid of him.

^ I'm afraid he is going to be our problem child for years to come.

The Braves have now locked up Kimbrel for 4 years at 42 million. Sigh, I don't know. I've never been a big fan of paying a lot for a closer but he is one of the premier closers in the game. He is going to perform but I wonder if this is going to interfere with securing guys like Simmons and Minor down the road.

I think Simba will be going to another team when his time is up. The Braves are like Hartsfield-Jackson, players are just here as a layover until a better offer comes around.

I don't know, they've gone nuts securing contracts for the young guns this offseason. Simmons can not be allowed to leave. Minor either.

Homer Bailey agreed to a $105 million contract extension with the Reds. Some of the baseball greats from not that long ago were born too early with all these generational wealth contracts for average to above average players these days.

hoping that's essentially the template that Jon Lester ends up coming to with the Red Sox, in the area of the numbers tossed around. As big as that deal is, it still helps by bringing the eye level down from some of the more monster contracts that were signed this offseason

So the Phillies turned in their draft picks who didn't sign to the NCAA.

What a fucking terrible organization. Get fucked, Ruben Amaro Jr.

Yeah, read that this morning and at first couldn't believe it. However I guess after what MLB has done to ARod, everything is now plausible.

It's just such an insanely scummy move. The Phillies are pissed that these kids didn't sign, so they ratted them out to the NCAA, ensuring they lose their remaining eligibility. Jesus Christ, Amaro.

Yeah, from the looks of things, it seems really petty. That being said, the NCAA's rules are extremely stupid.

Oh, I don't think there's any argument about that; the NCAA is so completely ass-backwards on certain matters that it's mind-boggling. Reporting the kids and salting the earth on their college eligibility, though ... that's even more mind-boggling, and just reprehensible.
