These days, Trek books seem to appear about a week before their technical on-sale date, so we'll be seeing this soon, I bet.

    Thoughts?

I got mine today. (Yay! First commenter.)

In brief, I enjoyed To Brave the Storm as much as I enjoyed any of the other Romulan War novels.

Narrative-wise, the problem with these is that instead of opening up new possibilities for future development these novels explain backstory, i.e. they show why things the way they are instead of how things could be different. I'm not sure it's possible for novels that function more-or-less as continuity porn to be as satisfying as the novels which explore new possibilities. It's a problem of the form of this Trek sub-genre, not of the novels.

I did like To Brave the Storm--I'm certainly pleased that I own a copy! With scenes behind the Earth and Romulan lines, continued development of Vulcan and the pre-Federation environment, battles described and explanations provided more than competently, and more coverage of Trip's espionage and his relationship with T'Pol, it does what I'd want it to. I'd rate the book a 6.5-7 out of 10: good and worth the purchase, if unspectacular.

Does this wrap up the war storyline?

And therein lies the problem for me. I was so looking forward to this line of books, but up to this point they have been unfathomably boring and pedestrian. We're talking about the Earth-Romulan Effing War here, so how on God's Green Earth can those novels be as unspectacular as they are?

Sorry to hijack the review thread, but the conclusion to your review forced my hand...

To this point, I've found the stories good but the writing over done and boring. I understand this is the end of the Romulan War series and there are no ENT books in the works. I find this sad because I have enjoyed the stories if not the reading experience and there is a lot of potential left in this series. There is still a Federation to found, a Starfleet with alien navies to integrate, and an NX-01 refit.

But enterprise never had the fan support of the other series anyways. I look forward to this book, hope for more ENT stories and wish Michael Martin could oversee an NX tech manual.

Do we know for a fact that there aren't any more Ent books in the works? Just because we haven't heard about more books, doesn't mean that they don't have plans for the series.

I've been enjoying the romulan war, and I am looking forward to this new one this can't wait I"ll pick it on my nook. I hope this is'nt the end of the enterprise book series that would suck since we just wraped up the new frontier and we have the conclussion of the vanguard books next year.

I asked Micheal Martin about if he will be writing more enterprise novels he asked the editors but hasn't heard back from them he's writing anew Titan novel that's coming out next year. I'm enjoying this new novel I really am glad to see the behind the scenes of the Earth/Romulan war and that we get to see what's happen ing with the Enterprise that they gat alot more to do in this novel and we get to see More of Trip being behind enemy lines and more of his relationship with T'Pol is well written and alot more exciting with the battle near Vissia..

Wait, really? Michael A. Martin has a new Titan book next year? As far as I know, this is the first we've heard of that.

Why not continue onward to the forming of the Federation, even if it takes a few more novels?

I'd like more Enterprise novels to be written there's alot of untold stories left to tell Iwant to see the story continue after to Brave the storm left off. And Micheal is busy writting a new Titan novel on October 25 there will be an interview with Micheal Martin posted up at startrek.com on Tuesday October 25 discussing his new Enterrpise novel To Brave the storm and discussing his future writing projects.

This has been the Star Trek book I have looked forward to the most this year and it did not disappoint. It also was the first book I've bought in dead-tree format this year instead of waiting for the eBook. I can't help but be surprised it wasn't 100 or 200 pages longer but it wrapped everything up in a way that I am happy with and was a fun if not quick read.

I hope this isn't the end of the Enterprise line though. I'd enjoy seeing a follow-up to Damage (perhaps coupled with another story or two in a trade paperback), another Mirror Universe novel, a post-BOTF novel wrapping up some of the mysteries this novel's ending leaves, a President Archer story, and an Anthology. One can wish anyways.

Been looking forward to this one since the first Romulan War book. Kinda surprised this is the end and they didn't make it a trilogy. I really hope sales of this book are good and we see another Enterprise book, its my fave of all the book series. I really liked Enterprise, surprised so many other people hated it.

I'm an ebook guy, so I still wont have my copy for another day or so. Cant wait to read it though!

I definitely hope this book sells well enough for a sequel to brave the storm and future Enterprise novelc can be written.I'm almost finished reading this book and was so glad the Enterprise crew had more to do in this book. I'm happy the way Trip's story line has been dealt with and his relationship with T'Pol was further expanded in the book .:techman:I've really enjoyed reading this book. I wish we could've had a 3 book trilogy but I'm happy the way this book has wrapped up the Earth'Romulan wars this book took some suptrise twist and turns with how sneaky the Romulans were when it came to attacking earth. it was totally unexpected in how they carried out their plan. i like that T'Pau finaly decided to stop being so stubborn and ahd the Vulcans help defeat the Romulans with the added help of the Andorians and their coalition other allies.

Yeah that's spot on with my feeling.

I almost felt like there were a few chapters missing at the end with T'Pol discovering Trip was alive, revealing how he survived and the entire crew gathering and reminiscing before the signing of the charter.

I half expected a few pages on how the process got started too and reactions to the idea of a Federation with a group of allies who abandoned Earth until the very end.
