So it's not a green-light announcement for the series, but it still sounds like some sort of positive news...

    Keeping my fingers crossed!

Maybe if it hasn't been officially greenlit yet, CBS is at least starting to have serious discussions and drawing up a game plan for it....

They could do a whole Special release on the Circle Arc, the Occupation arc, the final chapter...

Fantastic news. Seasons 1 through 5 could be rebuilt like they did TNG and the visuals for seasons 6 and 7 could be rerendered in this way. By the prophets, I hope we will get to see DS9 in HD in the near future.

If they can re-render the FX for DS9 and voyager, they better redo the CGI for the ST:TMP director's cut, finally.

Well the example HD re-render looks very good.

Wow, I'm blown away by these news! The example they provided looks great. Just applay the usual sweetening by CBS-D and this will look brilliant!

Oh man, DS9 on HD really has to happen! :scream:

Well, I doubt very much we'll see it until they get through TNG's season 7. But this is good news. Looks like we might be next on the list! :)

Wow, I'm totally blown away by the quality of that CG shot! It looks far better even than the work in TOS-R from many years later, in fact.

I know it's still early, but I HAVE to think this would make a huge difference in CBS's decision to remaster the series, since recreating the CG effects was probably the biggest obstacle...

Considering how fake the new CGI on TOS looked, that doesn't exactly mean anything.

No! Please, no sweetening of an kind! I want the ORIGINAL DS9 in HD, not some sweetened up version!

The "sweetening" he refers to is the stuff that CBS Digital has been doing to make the TNG shots look more realistic - interactive lighting passes, planets with atmospheric glow, better depth of field - NOT changes to the content, like with TOS.

I know. And honestly, even that "sweetening" was too much for me and kept me from buying the TNG-R sets.

I think you misunderstand. I'm talking about changes that make the CGI look more real/cinematic. This gives you a great idea of what I'm talking about. Both sequences use the same CGI shot, yet CBS-D makes it look a trillion times better. This is what I'm talking about.

Then yes, the DVDs are what you want if you don't want the show to be remastered.
